We searched this out as a local curiosity. Interesting and quirky, well written information board. Amazing detail and workmanship in a well which ironically was a gift to say "thank you". Popp in if passing but don't go out of your way as it is...More

This is a well cared-for and unexpected feature hidden in a remote Chiltern Village. A perfectly Indian well-head in a quintessentially English village. The charming story of how it got to be there is explained on-site.

The Well has an interesting history, it won't take long to visit, and next door is the Cherry Tree pub which has great food.

Superbly quirky monument now. The gift from a Maharajah to a village in England to repay a kindness shown many years before. A wonderful tale and a delightful quick visit.Brilliant!

Worth a visit between seeing Greys court and Nuffield Place. Strange place but lovely story about the well and Cherry Orchard. Nicely maintained.

Well documented local history of the well on a visitor's board. Unusual pretty well to find in rural Oxfordshire but worth a quick stop if you are passing. Easily walked from The Cherry Tree Inn. Quiet and relaxing on a Sunday morning

Imagine something you'd expect to find in India, superimposed on a well in an English village and there you have it. The well, though no longer used in earnest, still has water and is topped by a dome and a gilded elephant above the well...More

Not really a destination in itself, just a nice place to drop into and explore on the way somewhere else. There's a lovely story to be told about the Well's history (No Spoilers!) and both it and the attached orchard are certainly lovely. Just don't...More

Having driven by the signs on numerous occassions, we finally managed to get to this rather lovely bit of English History. It was a short stop but an utterly fascinating find in a small village.
