The Bodleian Library is a working library which forms part of the University of Oxford. It is housed in a remarkable group of buildings which forms the historic heart of the University, and you can explore the quadrangles of these magnificent structures at no charge. Different ticket options allow you to visit the interior of some of the buildings, such as the University’s oldest teaching and examination room, The Divinity School (built 1427-88). Here you will discover more of the University’s fascinating history. Our guided tours go behind the scenes in the Library, including its oldest research library, dating from 1602-20.

Absolutely fascinating.

One of the wonders of Oxford University. First time visitor needs support of a guide. Hard to take in all of th history on a first visit. Probably without equal for the student.

We did the extended tour whilst we had the chance to get one and seeing as we wanted to do a tour why not do it all. We aren't normally one for tours but really wanted to see more of this beautiful and historic building and this is the only way to see many areas. Our guide - Marjorie -... More

Guys... get yourself a tour around the Bodleian Library. It was hands down one of the best things I did while in Oxford.

It seems that to visit the rooms inside of The Bodleian you need to be a registered reader with card, or pay for a tour. The extended tour was over 90 minutes. For eome in the group that seemed too long, for others who wanted to linger in each room, it was too short. There are great spaces to stand... More

I've lived near Oxford for upwards of 30 years and I am sorry to say that it had never crossed my mind to take a tour of the Bodleian library. Can I say, please do not miss this out of your stay if you are visiting Oxford. We had a wonderful guide who sounded a bit like Mrs Thatcher and... More

The architecture is classic. The feel of Harry Potter very 'real' and this history is impressive. The first visit was with a large group, though this time I was with only two others and learned much more. Worth a stop if at the University.

As an academic, this place is equal to paradise for me... We took a 1/2 guided tour... If you want to see more rooms, take a 1 hour guided tour. Without guided tours, you can not have access to the main rooms. A must-do in Oxford.

Awesome experience. Though the weather was pretty cold, it was a worth while trip. The history behind this library is really something.

Very interesting architecture and history. This must be a stop. The tour is quite informative and gives good basic informatin about the university. I would start with this tour in my visit.
