Brilliant small cinema showing a mix of art house and mainstream films. Cosy vibe inside with a small bar at the back serving wine, coffee and cake. Audience usually middle-aged intellectual types and students. Friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. Now the only truly independent...More

Went to see the much acclaimed Lala Land at UPP. The film was nothing to write home about but......the cinema was a dream. We got the last two tickets for the showing. Despite having to sit on a dining chair ( comfy cushion provided )...More

Chose to go and see a film during a weekend in Oxford. Searched Google for cinema's and came across this little gem. It had good reviews and was showing La La Land on the Saturday afternoon so we decided to go. We got there half...More

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to support this small cinema as on a number of occasions I've found the way that the manager talks to the staff who are clearly marked as volunteers, rude and aggressive. Exchanging surprised/shocked glances with other audience members whilst overhearing...More

Regularly visit here . Whilst the films may not always be the very latest eventually they all are shown here . It's a friendly place with helpful staff . Also great to be able to have a glass of wine as well .

This is one of my favourite cinemas in the country. It's always warm and friendly, with sweet little bar and a few sensible rules that would happily comply to Messrs Kermode and Mayo's viewing recommendations. Comfy seats and a film list that tends towards the...More

Come for the greatest films ever, stay for the best film theatre service in Oxford bar none other. I remember back in 2009-10 how lovely the manager was to spend a good 10 minutes after the last session looking for, torch-in-hand, my supposedly-dropped wallet. After...More

Been here a few times now and always impressed by how respectful the audience members tend to be of those around them. Even when packed out, once the film starts you're rarely if ever distracted by fellow customers eating or talking. Perhaps this is why...More

Any cinema with a bar in the auditorium and that does not allow people to eat popcorn has got to be worth a visit. Lovely old-fashioned feel to it, an interesting selection of films, and definitely worth supporting against the boring multiplexes.
