We had Peter who made the tour an engaging and exciting experience. The history about William the Conqueror and others was very interesting.

Learnt a lot from the Empress Matilda and the gentleman in the gaol was also very knowledgeable and helpful. Would highly recommend visiting and climbing the tower for the views over the city (if your knees can take the steps!).

The tour of the castle was good fun! Our guide was Rowland Jenkins, who provided an entertaining and quite gripping tour with interesting stories of the past in the prison, and is easy on the eye to boot ! Nice way to spend an afternoon,...More

A very interesting piece of Oxfords history, its incredible what the people who were held prisoner in this place actually endured. A guided tour is given which is very informative and certainly an eye opener. Well worth a visit.

Although the visit was informative (and I did learn a lot), the tour was a bit gimmicky with people being put in the stocks and others throwing toy rats at them. Probably well worth taking kids but not really an adult tour. The cafe next...More

There were about three children under 5 on the tour I went on and the guide made it entertaining for them, so I'm sure your children will enjoy it!

The guides are all dressed as the personalities of the time. I don't recall mannequins
