Oxford Castle Unlocked explores the 1000-years of Oxford's History. Led by one of our costumed characters, the rich history of the castle with a prison at its heart will be revealed to you. Climb St. George's Tower and take in the stunning views before descending into the atmospheric crypt, along the 18th century prison wing and into archaic man-made mound.

Lots of lovely places to eat in a great setting, but this isn't a full English castle like you would think of in terms of the National Trust or English Heritage. Highly recommended for lunch or a drink if you're on a day out in...More

The tour was an impromptu choice on our end since we initially wanted to explore the area on our own. Glad we didn't miss out on this! Our tour guide (who was role-playing as the foul-mouth Rowland Jencks) was extremely entertaining and hilarious. The history...More

Visited for a works do. Excellent idea. Lots of fun was had by all. Very cold though! Food was tasty. White wine was not that great.

Took my 7 year old grandson here and we really enjoyed it. Queen Matilda was a wonderful guide and we both learnt a lot. Pitched really well if your child is interested in history. A good thing on a wet afternoon if a bit pricey.More

This is an excellent attraction that demonstrates the long and varied history of Oxford Castle in an interesting way. I took a group of university students who are studying the reform of prisons in the Victorian period so there was a lot that was directly...More

There were about three children under 5 on the tour I went on and the guide made it entertaining for them, so I'm sure your children will enjoy it!
