Oxford Castle & Prison explores the 1000-years of Oxford's History. Led by one of our costumed characters, the rich history of the castle with a prison at its heart will be revealed to you. Climb St. George's Tower and take in the stunning views before descending into the atmospheric crypt, along the 18th century prison wing and into archaic man-made mound.

Interesting visit. It is a guided tour lasting about an hour. Finishing in the museum where there is lots of info to read. You climb the tower with good views over oxford. Worth the entrance money. I imagine in high season it would pay to...More

Robin our tour guide was very interesting and he managed to make the history of the castle/ prison come alive with his stories. Would recommend this tour.

Worth a visit just for historic interest but, not liking conducted tours, we didn't actually go inside. Paid £1 to climb the mound of the 11th century Motte-and-Bailey castle. Very steep but worth the effort for the good views from the top.

The castle from the outside does not look like much. However, the guided tour reveals a lot of hidden rooms and pathways which makes the journey very interesting. These tours are best when there is an incorporated theme. Personally, I feel like Halloween is the...More

Very good. We got a reduction because there was a special offer on a ticket from another attraction which we had visited. The tours were regular. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Certainly worth a visit.

I have been to Oxford a few times and stayed in the Malmasion next door but never been on the guided tour of the prison. Our guide was a man dressed like a Victorian Prisioner (I didn’t catch his name but he may have been...More

There were about three children under 5 on the tour I went on and the guide made it entertaining for them, so I'm sure your children will enjoy it!
