We parked and walked the courtyard, which had Christmas market stalls. Cold and foggy, but nice to check out. Easy walk into Woodstock village.

Light trail around the grounds was excellent but very disappointed with the house Snow Queen experience.

Lots of food options in the outdoor market and a good range of stalls offering gifts.

Toilet and bar facilities available along the light trail.

Easy and convenient parking.

House ar £25 per head just had stacks of decorated artificial trees and a very loose story about a missing prince.

We were asked to take backpacks off and carry them or put them on our front. Just on the off chance we got anywhere near a wall!!!!

Trust me, no chance of getting near any kind of wall or any item of anique value. I had a larger than normal backpack for medical reasons and it's quite heavy. Carrying it in one hand is difficult and I kept falling over the dangling straps. Also had a large puffa coat in my other arm because the house is warm compared with outdoor and I took the coat off.

Anyway, put my backpack back on because I figured that it was less dangerous on my back than being dragged along beside me where I could fall over the straps. Asked several times to put it back on. I refused because what was the worst that could happen? I might knock off a few priceless tree ornaments on a wide roped off walkway..

Thank you for taking the time to review Blenheim Palace and Share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed in the Kingdom of the Snow Queen Experience. We ask our visitors to carry their backpacks on, their front or in their hand when visiting to avoid damage to objects in the palace, which have happened previously in the past. This is standard practice for many stately homes and museums. Once again we are grateful for your feedback and we are always looking for ways to improve our visitors experience. We do hope that we can welcome you back in the future to continue exploring everything we have to offer.

We agree with a previous review regarding the Christmas light trail this year. We have been twice before and to others in between. Always rated Blenheim as the best one, but were disappointed this year. I agree with everything said about seeing lights twice, trail being shorter etc. We really missed the lights in the lake and the waterfall, and the cascading lights down the hill. Sadly, we won’t be coming back unless future reviews reveal its back to its best again!
On a plus side, the christmas market was lovely

Visited last night and really enjoyed the experience. Kingdom of the snow Queen was great, as was the Christmas market outside. First visit but would definitely go again

We went to the Blenheim Christmas event last night. It was EXCELLENT! My mother who is in her 80s, was using a mobility scooter - the parking, accessibility throughout and treatment by staff was brilliant. The displays within the palace and the illuminated walk were FABULOUS. Having been to Belvoir Castle, Castle Howard and Chatsworth this year.....Blenheim wins hand down!....There are plenty of eating opportunities and a lovely market, reasonably priced. The level of attention to detail was incredible. I cannot wait to go next year and hear what the theme will be.

We came for the Christmas market and enjoyed what we found, had some Glüwein and looked at all the stalls. Then we had a delicious afternoon tea in the Orangery. There were sandwiches, scones and cake with tea or coffee. I would like to mention the young lady, the Maître d’Hôte, who was specially attentive and quite delightful. Also the serving staff were very pleasant.

We have been going to the Christmas Trail at Blenheim and in previous years, each experience got better and better, until this year (2022).

It’s been apparent over the last few years that the ‘trail’ has been getting shorter and shorter, but each corner of the trail has always been beautifully lit.

This year was a huge disappointment for the following reasons

1) the tour route appears to be in reverse this year. The light show against the Palace building is always stunning, but you first walk directly in front of it, which totally kills the magic. You then meander for 10 more minutes with nothing to see.

2) areas previously adorned with lights, have this year been replaced with great swathes of dark nothingness. It seems as though Blenheim have forgotten to put all the lights out. Some of the trail areas double back on themselves so you get to see the same lights twice (and the same from previous years).

3) a previous highlight was the naked flames set against the haunting rendition of silent night by Sinead O’Connor. It was moody and set a moving sad tone. This year the same lamps are back, but set against a choir music track of Walking in the Air. It just doesn’t work. The magic is lost.

4) I feel the reason the tour was reversed this year was to make up for the fact half the lights were missing. The lake wasn’t lit, just pitch black.

In summary, the whole setting had a feeling it had been set up by a junior on a third of the past budget. A light trail should be full of light. Sadly, nothing new this year and underwhelming. Blenheim, please bear in mind that many families are struggling and your escalating price point needs to be matched with escalating quality, or at the least the same standard as before. You can whack up prices and reduce quality.

As for the separate ticketed event inside the palace, this was also low budget. We went through in 15 minutes and not worth the £32 each for the ticket. The trees and their decorations (those that were decorated) looked like they had been dragged out of a dusty cupboard every year since Churchill was born.

Sadly this has the air of those bad winter wonderland setups that end up in the newspapers and Blenheim either need to reduce ticket prices asap, or face a barrage of complaints and non-returning visitors. I appreciate costs have no doubt risen this year, but for £120 for two plus food and drinks, we deserved better.

We went to see Blenheim’s indoor exhibition and outdoor Christmas lights. We went at the beginning of the year for ‘last year’s’ lights etc and it was magnificent- a theme of the Nutcracker. This year was the Snow Queen - it was nowhere near as good as last year and did not have the magic factor at all. They seemed to have had the budget light package as there was half the amount of lights than previously and they were very ordinary. They had very extravagant lights before and these weren’t.

The cafe near the gardens was awful. The soup came in a paper cup and was very salty. The ‘artisan’ roll was the size of a babies fist! All of that for £6.00. £12.00 for the two of us and £2.20 for water. A real rip off. The shop was really overpriced.

We have always loved Blenheim but we wouldn’t bother to go again and we had travelled 2 hours for that pleasure.

There is so much to see and do at Blenheim Palace. Inside the palace itself there are many rooms open to the public and the interior is beautiful. The gardens are vast with formal gardens and a cascade. There is the walled garden with the little train and park which is great for children. There is also a walk around the wider estate perimeter on which you can see the bridges and the Harry Potter tree. There are many cafes and places to stop for refreshments. It's a good job that tickets are valid for a year as you will likely want to make at least 2 visits in order to see everything!
