Visited recently with 2 young grandchildren. We had a lovely afternoon making dens and collecting acorns & chestnuts - nice hot drinks and toasted sandwiches from the cafe to finish off a lovely few hours.

We often come walking around here with our dog. Beautiful all year round. My favourite time though is Autumn.

Love walking in these woods at any time of year. The paths are well marked. It can be busy at weekends with dog walkers but it's a beautiful place.

Waking up at 6am isn't often a pleasureable experience but when you are greeted by the cool morning air, the sound of water flowing near by and stunning scenes it soon becomes one. Both of the mornings started with a 1hr 30min circuit of these woods. You could really appreciate some of the history of Sheffield with some old mills... More

I love this area and happily travel 40 mins here to walk the dogs. It's sheep free so the dogs can be off lead and not get into any trouble. Ive been in all weathers and it remains a delight to walk around.

The woods are lovely all year round but especially in the spring when the blubells are in flower. The Woodland Discovery Centre is well worth a visit and has a cafe, woodland workshops and all sorts of family activities going on.

I had the pleasure of a walk through Ecclesall Woods Nature Reserve today. Despite recent rains paths were relatively firm and the weather was kind to us. It was well signposted though I have to say some mountain bikers were under the impression that they could cycle on the footpaths. Loved it.

At weekends and in the evenings the inconsiderate cyclists seem to think the woods are for their pleasure only. During the week it's a wonderful, and generally safer place. I walk my dog here regularly and one can sometimes walk for an hour without seeing another person. Don't confuse the woods with Ecclesall Park. The latter has a separate listing,... More

Visited on bank holiday Monday. The event they had on was interesting. Car park was designated for disabled only so parking was along the road outside. Enjoyed the walk in the woods and will return but with a picnic and what follows is the reason why. There was a short but very slow queue at the little food kiosk and... More

We visited the woods with friends from London and the south of England. The bluebells were stunning and the chance to sit and have coffee together in the cafe was wonderful.
