The river after which Sheffield is named and the boundary between the ancient kingdoms of Northumbria and Mercia. Hard to believe really! Apart from that, it is perhaps the least interesting of Sheffield's rivers.

The River sheaf runs right through the centre of the city and has a lovely walk along known as five weirs walk - does tend to get a bit litter strewn but a nice change from the roads and paths
