We last visited 30 years ago when staying with family in Pontesbury. We called in the local pub at the bottom of the hill, had a tea and coffee before driving on to the stiperstones. We called at Tankerville Gallery en route and met up with old friends last seen 30 years ago - the gallery is a real blast from the past! We went on to the top car park passing the Bog Centre which opens in April(?) There is a short walk to the stones. The views are excellent. Well worth a visit. We continued our journey to Shrewsbury which was about 25 mins away through some scenic roads/lanes

We parked at the Bog Mine as we wanted a little more of a walk. Sign-posting was pretty poor but we finally found a way to the top of the ridge.
The view up there is lovely, with lots of green hills. The jagged tops were striking.
The walk was not too physically tough, we went as far as the Devils Chair, but the walking surface was quite demanding on your feet and I would only recommend for those with no walking problems and even then with thick soled shoes.

Fabulous day walking!
Parked at the reserve carpark and did a 7.6km circular found on ‘AllTrails’… took in varying terrain and views! Beautiful little spot by the devils chair to have our picnic.
Easy routes to follow and plenty of ways to shorten and lengthen the day!
Very dog friendly!!

We visited for a fairly short walk and ascended the ridge from the Reserve car park, up a good track with a steady ascent. The views from the top were superb (and it wasnt a particularly clear day). Would definitely return for a longer walk. A walking map of the area would be a good idea

Even though it was stormy/windy today we drove up to 'the bog' car park (which is free and lots of parking). Lots of information signs about the history of this place (visitors center was closed due to covid19). There is a good circular walk taking you through the forest then back up to the road before starting up to the cliffs (nice to climb up and take in the views). Plan to spend about 2hrs here. Sturdy footwear recommended. OK for dogs to be off the lead in most places.

A lovely drive with stunning views which became even better once we had parked the car and walked 20minutes to the rocks themselves.
Perfect for young teens and children to scramble on the lower rocks and, with adult help, the higher rocks gave a sense of achievement when climbed and perfect views of the surrounding hills.A perfect Autumn walk.

Wow, what a view. Well worth the hike up. Started below The Rock, walk up and around then onto the devil's chair to the end. Was stunning even on a windy day with low cloud

The Stiperstones Nature Reserve is a short drive uphill away from The Bog visitor centre.
There are 3 walks suggested on the board in the car park and we chose the largely level walk which leaves through a gate at the far end of the car park. On a breezy day this was quite well sheltered and yet provided good views. For the more energetic the uphill walks from the centre of the car par would provide more challenging terrain but with the advantage of spectacular views (we were told).
Car parking is a puzzle – there is a sign indicating that there is a charge but no times during which a charge applies. Payment is by using an App or by phoning a number, but with no mobile signal it’s impossible to pay….. Some else did manage to access the App only to discover that parking charges do not apply after 5pm. This needs to be clarified.

Quite simply - stunningly beautiful scenery -this is prime walking country with outstanding views. The roads are well maintained and traffic light. Free parking and easy access. On this occasion I drove through but will definitely revisit when in the county

What a lovely place to visit that offers a very different day out. There is parking on site and it’s fairly easy to find with Google Maps and signs. The walk is quite rocky but not too hard for families. The rocks are really unusual and good to climb. The views are great if it’s not foggy which it often is. Definitely go if you are in the area as well worth it. Walk is about an hour if you don’t stop.
