It's a great place for tourists and visiting family

Took my mum and aunt visiting from South Africa. Loves it. Really friendly people. Lots of history. Enjoyed it and they really enjoyed.

Title says it all I guess it looked really good as I pressed my nose up against the window. The building externally is fantastic standing right on the river for obvious reasons. A fantastic photography opportunty and I imagine when open, well worth a visit. Please, please open during school holidays..........even a small fee?

The wonderful setting of the mill on the bank of the estuary is an attraction in itself. on the bank of the estuary. The museum is well worth a visit. The setting itself is beautiful, on the banks of the estuary. The gentleman on duty was very informative, lively, inclusive, a real comic and my elderly gentleman companion thoroughly enjoyed... Clearly interesting, this eco attraction evolves from a wish to harvest energy from the tide, trapping rising tide water in a tidal basin, which is released at low tide, generating energy as part of the water discharge from the filled tidal basin. What a great idea!

You will not find a better restoration of a Tide Mill that is still in working order. It stands in a superb place on the River Deben giving some gorgeous views of the upper reaches of the river at all states of the tide from both inside and the absolute suntrap on the quay alongside. To see the Mill working... More

The last working tide mill, this was a revelation. The volunteer was very helpful and gave us plenty of information. It was in a lovely location and was very tranquil. Not suitable for disabled beyond the ground floor but a great 'find the mouse' activity for the children.

The mill produces flour and animal feed. This was the last commercially working tide mill in the UK and it has now been restored to working order and still grinding away. check the web for opening times.

A really fascinating glimpse into a working tidal flour mill. If you time it right you may be lucky and see it in operation grinding the grain. The flour they sell is absolutely the best I've ever used for making bread!
