We went over to visit the Stepping Stones in January, and were reminded that wellies are a must this time of year! On many occasions we have climbed Box Hill, or taken the drive up, and the views are simply stunning of the downs and the surrounding areas. The town of Dorking looks like a fairy tale from this perspective.... More

My first visit, and so glad I went. Parking was easy (don't forget to pay if you are not in the National Trust), nice café and shop, loads of outdoor seating for picnics, and very well explained walking trails.

Park the car and potter to the viewpoint for the vista over Dorking, to Leith Hill and to the South Downs beyond the planes landing and taking off from Gatwick. The food and coffee at the cafe are not overly expensive, fresh and tasty. Bike enthusiasts will love the car park full of bikers and their machines at the bottom... More

Wellington Boots essential today - we are NT members so parked in the car park for free. Made our way to the Stepping Stones with the family - River flowing fast so only some made it across the stones. However there is a footbridge just a little further down. Lovely walk whatever the weather. If you don't know the area... More

Visted this place for the first time toady. 20 min easy drive, arriving we parked at the small car park paying £3 for two hours (which is fair) View from the hill very enjoyable, after we were done with that we headed to the stepping stones. Steps down were slippery both of our children (6 and 2,5) fell couple of... More

First time at boxhill and was amazed with the height and scenery. They provide bathrooms and snack bars at the top. For Canadian visitors take care on drive as the road is very narrow with lots of traffic on weekend.

There is a cafe and also really nice views. Only good on a clear day, but that's the same as most hills. I wouldn't recommend running down it. It's a long way
