If you're visiting Newcastle, this is a must see location which pretty much defines the centre of the city. Not only does it stand proud at the head of Grey Street, it also lends itself beautifully to acting as a meeting point and the location...More

A monument to Earl Grey, a great reformer and son of the city. Centrally placed and so a popular meeting spot for locals and a landmark for tourists. When we were there on a Saturday there were campaigners for Racism standing and delivering their views,...More

This is a huge statue, visible from much of the city. It commemorates a man who voted for the Reform Act, leading to a hundred years of peace in the area. The positive nature of the statue I found very heartwarming.

It is the spectacular centre piece of brilliant maintained piece of UK history. There are buskers most of whom seem to have forgotten the great LINDISFARNE traditions.
