Having spent my early years in Newcastle the exhibition through the history of Newcastle was really well presented and very interesting. Only had a couple of hours so will surely add this to the list to visit again. Informative polite staff. Good hands on activities to keep younger ones interested. Nice little cafe.

Lots of boating history from the area, and history of the past. A good resource for schools and a helpful education team. We particularly enjoyed studying a huge relief map, seeing all the sites where boatyards once were. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Thank you.

We visited this museum on a somewhat wet day really to escape the rain. We were very pleasantly surprised. The children were loving it it as well as adults. It gives a good idea of what things have influenced the growth of the city through the centuries. Also how it's fortunes have been reversed and are now improving. Well worth... More

Spend a few hours at the museum with my cousin and 4 year old son. We all had a great time. He loved all the hands-on activities and we loved the history. Many things to see for all ages and it's free!

First quick visit to establish location (by foot) in relation to local transport hubs. Definitely worth more visits as there appears to be a lot to see and learn about the history of Newcastle and surrounding areas.

We really enjoyed our visit to this museum. While the main focus may be on the industrial heritage of the Newcastle etc area it is well laid out which different areas dedicated to particular types of exhibit. On arrival I was particularly taken by the Challenger Tank just outside the entrance, now you don't see one of these every day.... More

This is a fantastic and cheap day out! I visited during half term to occupy my younger cousins. All three boys throughly enjoyed it and for one has given him the bug to want to see more museums. As very outgoing, practical boys I was worried they would bore easily but they found the exhibitions interactive and fun, particularly the... More

Been here many times. It's a great day to spend half a day. The kids really enjoy themselves. If you like local history, this is the place for you. Some of the interactive displays have been broken on each visit.
