This old established venue is still the best for character and atmosphere. I've been coming here for many years and still love the old place. Over the years I've seen everyone from the Rolling Stones to the Northern Symphony Orchestra. The ticket office is now closed and tickets are obtainable from the Theatre Royal box office.

Brilliant place to watch band play, and have a concert for a large group of people . I went to attend an event that was organised by my religion organisation. It was wonderful to see a nice place like that in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne

The staff were brilliant after being an idiot and losing my keys, especially the guy who offered to drive us home to Penrith, and the lovely lady bouncer who let us stay inside and keep warm until my spare key was delivered at 1230am! Excellent gig and venue too.

The city hall is a great venue to see a live band. The atmosphere is great, small and intimate and the sound just seems so much better than some of the larger venues in the city. Access in and out is fairly easy, and the staff are generally quite friendly (although very busy)

The old lady needs some money spent on her but not long ago there was a risk the Council would close her so at least she survived. Roughly a 2000 seater venue so going to give you a more intimate gig than the Arena. Tonight, for my wife, it was Rick Astley. 3 rows from the front and right in... More

Went to rick astley concert which was enjoyable but city hall facilities are dirty and the staff appeared disinterested when alerted. Concert finished at 10.20 and ladies toilets were locked down, we were advised to go to mens! Really! I spent well over £100 for that experience what a disgrace, never again!

This must be the best music venue in the north east. Been coming here for 25+ years to see various bands. Good acoustics, decent bar downstairs (but gets busy) More bands should play here !!
