This fifteenth-century, charming thatched cottage was the childhood home of Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare's sweet-heart and wife.Experienced guides explain the stories behind the Shakespeare connection and the history of some well-known English idioms such as "chairman of the board".There are nine acres of gardens and grounds to explore including a lavender maze, a woodland walk, the Shakespeare arboretum and a living willow cabin where you may listen to some of Shakespeare's sonnets.

It was drizzling and rather cool when we visited Anne Hathaway’s Cottage but the weather didn’t dampen our spirits. Exciting to move from room to room of this twelve odd room farmhouse where Anne Hathaway, William Shakespeare’s wife to be, lived as a child. The original farm house was built over five hundred years ago and was taken over by... More

Although a little overpriced, still worth visiting. It was cold when we went so didn't want to stay too long on the grounds but potential to be great during spring/summer months. Very interesting talk from a member of staff in the cottage itself, lovely to see the cottage is so well preserved.

We visited the cottage on my mother's 90th birthday as she has always loved Stratford upon Avon and we were staying in a hotel there for Christmas and her birthday. The staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable and the cottage was very interesting. There is an upstairs that my daughter and her fiancé visited but Mom and I did not... More

Beautiful cottage, wonderful to see how they use to live.going at this time of year was perfect, walking around the cottage was quite so you could take it all in,worth buying a ticket for all the places and you have 12 months to use them again. Coming again when the gardens are blooming.

This is a very informative and enjoyable place to visit. The staff were very knowledgeable and interested in sharing their knowledge. The venue is extremely well maintained and gave amazing insight into the life of the Hathaways who lived in the cottage for several generations. Suggest buying the multi access pass to visit other venues in Stratford.

The cottage itself looks pretty from the outside but there's nothing much to see inside. The gardens however are a delight. There's a small apple orchard, lavender bushes and a cleverly designed path through a woodland area. We spent more time in the gardens than in the cottage on a pleasant summer morning!

A lovely old cottage, informative staff good at answering all our questions. A bit expensive! Looks like the garden would be lovely in the summer - but on the other hand, there were very few visitors on a cold January morning and we had plenty of space to look around the house. Adequate cafe across the road.

What a lovely place. Staff are really great and helpful and will tell you all about the Hathaways and one of them was even lucky enough to have been to school with their descendants. Beautiful gardens which I'm sure look fabulous in spring with all those apple trees.

A great choice to visit and a must when in Stratford. Fascinating grounds with carefully-tended cottage garden - still in rural setting despite the advance of Stratford's urban sprawl, through which you stroll if walking from town. The sustodians as friendly and very informative, the house is well presented, without the overdone interpretation of some of the venues in town.... More

We had some Australians staying with us over the New Year and thought they would be interested in visiting Shakespeare country! We hit the jackpot and they loved this place... Although this is a "Winter's Tale" when outside is dormant and dreary, as surely the garden here must be a blaze of colour in the summer; truly "A Midsummer Night's... More
