This fifteenth-century, charming thatched cottage was the childhood home of Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare's sweet-heart and wife.Experienced guides explain the stories behind the Shakespeare connection and the history of some well-known English idioms such as "chairman of the board".There are nine acres of gardens and grounds to explore including a lavender maze, a woodland walk, the Shakespeare arboretum and a living willow cabin where you may listen to some of Shakespeare's sonnets.

I was on a guided tour of Stratford-Upon-Avon when on the end of the day our tour guide brought us here. I absolutly loved the garden, and I am glad I have visited the house. Eventhough there wasn't that much to see or do. I would recommend this place if you have some time left at the end of your... More

The cottage and garden are just wonderful. The staff at the reception/ticket office were very helpful and the staff member inside the cottage was wonderful and could answer all our questions with a smile. The garden is a gardeners dream so allow yourselves time to explore. This is one of the best “Shakespeare” places to visit. Get a multi-use multi-entry... More

Had a lovely weekend in Stratford-upon-Avon for the 1st time. Anne Hathaway's cottage was the only house we visited. We done the city bus trip on the Sunday with the intention of getting off to visit the cottage, however as it was quite late in the afternoon and a bit cold we stayed on the bus for the round trip.... It was quite an experience to see where Shakespeare courted his bride-to-be and hear their love story. The cottage with its thatched roof is picturesque and romantic. The cottage has the original furniture including the Hathaway bed. It was interesting hearing the stories of the 13 generations of the family who lived here. The cottage garden and the surrounding grounds... More

We only spent a couple of hours here but you could spend most of a day here exploring the grounds and house. Take a picnic.

Had a lovely afternoon walking around this cottage. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Afterwards had afternoon cream tea at the cafe, scrumptious cream scones.

Small but beautiful, see where the Hathaways lived for generations and made up stories about the Shakespeare's to attract visitors. Friendly staff full of interesting information, run almost totally by volunteers. If you're having a Shakespeare themed day save money by buying a multi ticket. Charming location, drive or take the easy 30 minute walk from the town centre.

Very picturesque little cottage. Don't forget your camara. The gardens are also very pleasant but obviously not seen at their best in November when we visited. Inside the cottage the guides are very helpful and informative. Lots of little stories and old savings to make the visit more enjoyable. A little disappointed that the tea rooms at the cottage are...
