We had never heard of this placce but a friend recommended it and we are glad she did. Even on a somewhat gloomy day we loved it. The art collection is excellent, the cafe is very good, and the gardens beautiful.

The park is a typically grand Capability Brown affair with a bridge with marvelous views of the house. At the time of our visit the ART Gallery included an intersting exhibition of Chinese art and a Gainsborough exhibition.

It's not a national trust property! It is maintained (I believe) by the heritage trust.
