You really can't miss the statue, it's right in the middle of the square in the main shopping area of Coventry city centre. It's a nicely done up area of the city and very open, and is lit up lovely in the evenings. It's also very close to the cathedral and some of the nicer historical parts of Coventry.

An interesting bit of Coventry history and worth a quick look if you happen to be passing by anyway.

What a story, what grit and determination by the lady - thinking about the poor! A must see for all the people who visit Coventry. Situated in the heart of the city Center.

A statue to the Lady Godiva, who rode naked through Coventry to persuade her husband to drop duties on farmers, or so the story goes. I won't get into the truth of the matter as I have heard passionate cases for both versions, fact or fiction, but I will recommend the walk through Coventry to see the statue in all... More

The tale, although described as fiction, is in fact true. Lady Godiva rode through the streets naked in protest to her husband's (Lord Leofric) tax increases

Lady Godiva, the wife of Leofric, Earl of Mercia, reportedly rode naked around the streets of Coventry in a bid to get her husband to reduce taxes in the 11th Century. They are saying that In folklore, Peeping Tom was the only person to look at Godiva as she rode naked through the city.

It is a famous Coventry landmark, located in the city centre easily spotted as you are walking towards the newly established eating places. This statue is commemorating a famous woman who history has it rode through the city on horseback bare.

You can't be in Coventry and not find out the Godiva history. She of the naked riding fame. The statue gives some history of her link with Coventry. It gives your neck a crick if you stand too close to the statue and try to look up.

cute idea to place such a famous lady in a central square but she often gets sidelined when there is a festival e.g. beer october fest or the xmas lights on or xmas market. link better with peeping tom and the clock
