Celebrated as the UK's favourite 20th century building, Coventry Cathedral is known all over the world as a beautiful and unique venue. Designed by architect Sir Basil Spence following the bombing of the city in 1940 it was opened in 1962, and contains some of the finest examples of 1950's and 60's art and architecture in the country.

What a fantastic combination of old and new. The Cathedral itself is beautiful and it is very well used for a lot of functions, which is a great use of the building.

Thank Anchrist

Just love the old cathedral, so much atmosphere even with no roof, definitely worth a visit. It stands next to the newer cathedral so worth visiting.

Thank you for your lovely comments on the ruins of the old cathedral. Not sure whether you visited the new cathedral to see what it has to offer. If not, maybe next time.

We went to look round and it's one of the best cathedrals for me. This is because of its design, architecture, place and all it represents in terms of its time, and why it's there as a place of worship and reconciliation, with the old...More

The ruins of the old cathederal are very nicely kept and have a peaceful atmosphere about them. It is possible to climb the tower for a good view of the city.

Thank you for your comments on the ruins of the old cathedral. Perhaps you will visit again and, this time, investigate what the new cathedral has to offer.

The old cathedral is a very evocative place, and a reminder of the damage from World War 2. The new cathedral seems to be religious building meets art gallery with magnificent stained glass warring with art installations that only have passing relevance to the building...More

We traveled more than two hundred miles to see this attraction in Coventry. The Spire Climb is advertised as open until 16:00, well! After already paying upfront for the attraction and then turning up at 14:00, we were told, by some very unprofessional girl with...More

Visited after going to the Rising Cafe. Had a very interesting talk by a heritage guide who explained all about the stained glass and showed us some 600 year old pieces that are stored here.

I don't know how they did it, but the did. 500 people in the cathedral for a three course meal with full dining tables and candelabras. It was absolutely gorgeous.

A good part of Coventry's history but you need also to look at the other remains of the earlier cathedral destroyed by Henry xiiiMore

Thank you for your review of our cathedral. You are correct to suggest that everyone visits all 3 cathedrals on this site, which cover approx. 1,000 years of history. Naturally only the new one is fully operational. The first is a historical site dating back...More

Hi Pat, thanks for your question. The Transport Museum is separate to the Cathedral so unfortunately we can't assist with that. Their website should give you the information you need though. As EximiousTraveller has stated... More
