Was here in oktober with a hire narrowboat. a beautifull moring place at a short distace from the city centre. Even if you just visit the city, iI would recomend to have a look at the Basin

We visited by boat a few years ago and the place was deserted and dismal. We were thrilled to find several visiting boats, a cafe with folks sitting out enjoying the sunshine and a hire fleet. Much better

If you like canals, this is the place to visit. You don't realise you are in a City. Cafe and shops close by.

There were 7 narrowboats moored whilst we were here. Nothing much happening in the Basin itself but a short walk to the town center with a lot of shops and attractions. Valley Cruises has a hire boat center in the one arm of the Basin....More

What a shame ... the canal basin is lost in time...a fantastic location but it needs some local government investment to bring it back to life....it was so sad to see it as it was once very vibrant.....

From what I can find out this used to be a pub in the canal basin with live music but is now permanently close (googled information). I just went to the cafe at the 'amenities' end of the basin.
