It is an alright place but not a great tourist destination. We found it just alright and not too brilliant. But they have maintained the place well. It is very close to the city centre as well so one can visit city centre as well as the canal basin on the same day if you want to plan a day... More

A really nice quiet place well maintained with a variety of interetsing shops. Watching the boats arrive turn and leave on a nice Summers day sitting here is something worth doing. Spend an hour with an ice cream and enjoy the sights and sounds. Visited in November - suggest visit in Summer !!! (Too cold)

Having just completed a 2 day stay in the basin I must say I don't recognise some of the adverse comments. We had a quiet trouble free trip, there and back, and although there were a couple of patches of floating detritus I have certainly seen similar elsewhere. The basin was clean and very quiet and at no point did... More

Visited for about 3 hours stop-over to see something of the city. Cathedral and Herbert Museum are in easy walking distance from here. Not the largest basin to moor up in so may be crowded in the height of the season. Good moorings available. The only major drawback in getting here is the state of some of the canal on... More

We travelled to Coventry along the canal from Hawkesbury Junction, what a disappointment this whole stretch of canal is very grotty, with thousands of cans, bottles (plastic and glass) arm chairs, rocking horses, TV's etc, etc., and the colour of the water is the blackest I have ever seen, there are rubbish bags full of rubbish tied to railings, rat's... quite small with two canel boats. found a few open units good to look around but only a passing visit. It is just a few mins walk from town across the road bridge. I understand that there are trips from here on the canel but the office was closed when we went.

The sun was shining so it was lovely to walk along the canal. A couple of barges passed us which added to it. on our return we had a drink in the little café overlooking the canal.

We arrived early in the morning and sat and enjoyed the peace and quiet. It is difficult to find and the traffic is unforgiving for making a wrong turn, but persevere and you will enter a secluded little world that defies all around it.

Just a short walk from the city centre. Really worth the effort to go there there are a few different outlets up there - it is very relaxing. You can eat, walk or just chill the time away. They do boat cruises or you just walk along the tow path.
