We had to work out where we would like to go on a rainy day in Leeds and we opted fo r Kirkstall Abbbey. We took advantage of our bus passes and after 20 minutes we alighted at the Abbey . There is no payment required but donations are appreciated. The desk staff were most helpful and explained any hazards... More

Great for a walk or just a look around for the history, I regularly visit and it is great when it is in the summer as you can take a nice stroll or use the playground, great place for all the family

We recently visited the Abbey whilst on a weekend visit to Leeds. Its only around three miles from the city centre & easy to find. We were lucky to have a nice cold crisp wintry day ,where we wrapped up warm & enjoyed a walk within the ruins. We were also fortunate in that there was good selection of Christmas... More

Kirkstall Abbey offers you the chance to walk along the ruins of the past and to experience what it must of been like during them years. With little areas showing you information about the ruins, you get to take the time to look and see what the building use to be. There is a lot of evidence in the ruins... More

The abbey is free of charge to look around and has a visitor centre. The ruins are enormous and will take your breath away.

Not much to do other than a look around the ruins, however there are events from time to time such as a farmers market and children's activities in the school holidays. There is a small gift shop and a children's play park across the busy road next to the Abbey House Museum which is also well worth a look around.

Great place to let the little one(s) run round. Nice tarmac path around the park for small bikes and scooters. And it is free. Kids playground near the car park on the other side of the road

How lovery to be able to walk around these extensive ruins in a public park. What a truly beautiful abbey this must have been absolutely wonderful to absorb the feeling of history it gives out.

Easy to spend an hour mooching around these wonderful ruins and the visitor centre. And on the last Saturday every month they have a wonderful farmers market here, great setting

Whether it's history, beautiful photography, space for the kids and pets to run or just a nice walk along the canal, Kirkstall Abbey has everything, regardless of the season.
