If the weather is good you can make a good day out here. Take a picnic and ball and you are set. Grounds are well looked after and there are plenty of areas to relax. Bird area is really good and they are currently updating it so it should be even better. The house is interesting and the grounds are... More

Stopped in for something to do on our way home from York and we were pleasantly surprised! The house was really interesting, we spent a good hour looking round and reading all the information boards. We then spent another hour in the bird garden which was so much bigger than we expected! There were parts closed off as they are... More

As usual we commenced our visit in the Café which provides a variety of fare and the staff ensure that you enjoy your visit by providing first class service. Although there are extensive works in progress in the Bird Garden prior to the arrival of the penguins there were lots of interesting birds on view. In the house there was... More

came here to do the easter activities, the children loved running around looking for the clues, the garden games were a big hit too. We went to look around the bird garden but some of it is closed off due to refurb and getting new animals we can't wait to go back and see if all finished in summer. We... More

Having not visited Lotherton Hall for several years, today's visit came as a wonderful surprise. There is so much to see and do here and all at a very reasonable price. We did the Alice in Wonderland trail, visited the bird garden, played in the 2 play areas, had a picnic and explored the house. The grounds are beautiful and... More

We visited today with 2 small children and was surprised at how much their was to do. There is a really good playground ideal for younger and old children. There's lots of open space for kids to play and lots of picnic benches to eat a picnic. There is a bird garden with lots of different birds to look at.... More

Family up from Cornwall. Wanted somewhere to go to entertain young and old. Loved the bird garden although a little disappointed as they are going through major alterations. Had a coffee and cake in the restaurant. Very busy with children and young families. Great all round day out

Spent an afternoon here with family and what a lovely surprise the place was. Very pretty gardens and although another month or so before they'd be at their best, the pond, complete with frogs, newts, fish etc was a big draw for the children. We were astounded at the Bird Garden - much bigger than expected and kept us all... More

We had just spent the weekend in York and called at LOTHERTON HALL on our way home. What a nice surprise it was going round the Bird Garden and then the Hall itself which is owned by Leeds city council. In the Bird Garden it was lovely walking round seeing all the different birds from all over the world, which... More
