Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning! It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds. It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

Took our daughter (nearly 3) and we were very disappointed. Two of the attractions were closed for refurbishment and judging by what was open the whole place needs refurbishment. It took about 30 minutes to go through what was open. We intended having lunch there...More

Really good place for kids, reasonably well priced. My daughter really enjoyed it. Will be returning.

Highlights - could have fit more butterflies in the room, meerkats looked on edge and schizophrenic (maybe seperate from large bird), whole section on insects (my girlfriend's favourite) closed off. Other than that, good ping pong facilities and selection of animals and plants.

First, I have no idea what the individuals who are posted 4 and 5 star reviews went to. They must have very little to compare to. We were 3 adults and a 1 year old with stroller/pram. Currently, they are doing renovations and a bulk...More

Sorry for the delay in answering. Many of the flying birds, butterflies etc are free to fly around. Some of the bigger species are in cages/tanks.
