The exhibits are based around test flying from the nearby Boscombe Down airfield. A wide range of aircraft types are represented and many cockpits/flight decks are open for access. The history extends to the WWI hangar which holds the museum.

Stumbled across the museum by accident and was very surprised to find such an excellent and unique museum in a fantastic historic setting. It is unusual to find a museum that is so 'hands on' in the UK, so for an aviation enthusiast being able to sit in the cockpit of nearly every aircraft there is something very special. The... More

My husband, myself and our 2 year old had an absolute blast at this wonderful airplane collection. Being able to touch and interact in the cockpits was so much fun and a great learning experience. My husband, an experienced pilot, really enjoyed the Links trainer. Also I big thanks to Gordon for showing us around, we really enjoyed the visit.

Having visited a number of other aviation museums including the RAF museum in Hendon, I can confirm that though not the largest, this is the most interesting museum of this kind. The guides here were of the most helpful and interesting kind with fascinating information about each aircraft and its history including information about specific aircraft with extremely noteworthy histories... Visited in September 2016. Run by very knowledgeable people, plenty of aircraft you can even sit in some. There is also a simulator where you can try out your skills. Well worth a visit.

This is a great venue with lots of interaction. Unlike other museums this one actively encourages you to touch buttons and sit in the jets and cockpits to have go. The kids loved the computer landing simulator and the motion sim as well. The staff are very friendly, helpful and have a wealth of knowledge, as many are retired RAF... More

I cannot quite believe that we have not visited this collection or the airfield before. We are relatively local and just found the collection by googling this morning and have enjoyed a fab afternoon at the collection and at the airfield cafe watching the skydivers and planes. My boys are 11 and 8. The volunteers were incredibly knowledgeable and attentive... More

It must have been about a year since I visited this place, and I was able to sit in the cockpit of a harrier and told instructions on how to fly it by one of your staff so promised to leave a review! I have to admit upon arrival I wasn't expecting a great deal, I had not seen any... More

And one of the few collections to allow the public to sit in the aircraft cockpits. Unusually there is a sectioned WE 177 to see. Very good very friendly staff who have so much knowledge to impart.
