Worth spending half a day to have a wander to the castle & along the front. The buildings ate gradually being done up, & the stunning old University is due to be developed soon.
Not much here apart from the pier & one ice cream parlour, but I like unspoilt seafronts that aren't too touristy, so I like it.

The promenade is 1mile from the start to the harbour. It is a lovely walk a lot of the hotels are being refurbished. The harbour is interesting but in September there was only one cafe, it is very nice with an outside area with a protective sail covering.

Walked along the flat seafront - good to get the sea air. Parking along the front is very much a case of if you are lucky - 2 hrs and free however it is a case of jump in when someone leaves.

There is a pier with some amusements on. Just enjoyed being by the sea. The old school would make a wonderful hotel if someone had the money.

With some investment this could be lovely.
No tea rooms and only one bar that are seafront. Thr Prom and front would be more inviting if a few amenitites were available.

The town felt a bit tired and rundown. Heavy reliance on the student trade.
The promenade was a good flat walk and there was the beach too.
Lots of properties that promised luxury apartments but had no doubt stalled during covid.

Don't know what town the other reviewers were in but it wasn't the Aberystwyth I was in last week. The town used to be so attractive - the flower displays all over the town were amazing by any standards and made the town look great. My first visit this year last week and I was shocked at how tatty and drab the town looked. What I don't get is that gardening has got so many people through the pandemic with millions of people who have never gardened getting well into it. Plants and flowers have made people happy in very challenging times. Here, however, not a single display - weeds and litter everywhere. Not a single container filled with anything but weeds, the former glorious circular beds by the play park grassed over (and not mowed), the beds by the castle a complete disgrace. For a town which needs to attract students and tourists it is a careless decision to allow the town to look so scruffy and unloved. I came from Tywyn, a tiny town just down the coast, where the displays are lovely.
Everyone I have spoken to has said the same. If costs very little to plant bedding and the results are transformative. Come on Aberystwyth, get your act together you look like a dump at the moment.

We must have walked up and down the front about 10 times in the two days we were there. Very clean with litter pickers out even though it was a bank holiday weekend. A great dog deinking station about halfway along. Some lovely ice-creams from the permanent stands and although we didn't partake of the fish'n'chips they did smell nice.

Easy to walk along the promenade as it is very wide and was very clean. Being high up compared to the beach you had good views of the beach and sea.

Visiting Aberystwyth with the kids, took them for a walk along the seafront.
Pretty Victorian buildings of faded grandeur - though now very much blighted by dog's mess - by careless dog owners.
