This is a cultural highlight and should not be missed. I attended an excellent tour of the National Library which was fascinating. The guide was so well informed and engaging. On the tour we were shown areas of the library not normally seen by readers. We were shown the Nanteos Cup (the Welsh Holy Grail); Ancient Maps, Welsh original paintings... More

I am a volunteer with the National Library of Wales and I am currently working on the Cynefin project, which is inputting data onto their tithe maps on computer.

Visited on Saturday a bit of culture time. Carparking was free. Plenty of carparking space. The views from outside over Aberystwyth in the sunshine amazing. Inside lovely Welsh feeling. Free to look at Exhibitions. Aberfan was one of the themes in black and white pictures - very descriptive. Interesting item of the "Nanteous Cup". In the Gregynog Gallery. Exhibition on... More

If you want a good lunch for very little money you can't beat the National library of Wales. It obviously caters for the staff but anyone can go there. They serve tea coffee cakes as well

Wonderful library. Great food in canteen. Also great staff in all areas of the library. Very emotive exhibition, so well put together covering the Aberfan tragedy. Also an emotive one on Mametz Wood in the first world war. Well worth a visit. Beautiful view over Aberystwyth from the library steps.

The library is an exemplary scholarly space with a multitude of collections of various mediums and medias. North room is the best study-space in Aber outside of the university. Astounding collections overall - great visitors' shop, affordable café, on main bus line

As a mobility impaired visitor I was anxious about visiting such a huge site. Wheelchairs(3) are available and disabled parking is free and within a reasonable distance of the entrance, which has a ramp. Directions to the aberfan exhibition are a bit confusing. The lift is on the same floor as the entrance just past the shop. You are on... More

The National Library of Wales is an impressive, perhaps even forbidding looking building presiding over the hill above Aberystwyth. When I was younger I used to find it a bit daunting. But I was quite wrong. For a start it's far more than a library. It does have every book published in English available for you to consult if you... More
