Hugely significant piece of Roman history and archaeology, especially for North Wales, which can be appreciated with a little bit of reading. However, the modern execution and display of the landmark is not on a similar level, with the shop/centre being shut and rather small anyway. Little information on the site requires research for appreciation, meaning the site was deserted... More

A very interesting place to visit on the outskirts of Caernarfon. The Romans never reached Ireland. There to see here then the Caerhun Roman Fort (Canovium) overlooking the river Conwy.

Historical site of an excavated Roman Fort 2000 years old, plus a small museum of artefacts excavated in the locality and history of the occupying Roman soldiers

After a long walk up hill, we were disappoint to find very little to see. The centre was closed even though it was Saturday on a bank holiday weekend

I was the only one there, on a bright sunny day. The fort is just laid out in the original lay out surrounded by neatly kept grass. Great for children to wander. There was no detailed information, or boards, but it was free.

A 10 min walk from the town centre, easily reached, signposted. The museum was closed but you can still walk around to the back where the ruins are. We only stayed for about 10 mins, just lots of base bricks in the shape of where the walls of the buildings would have been. It's ok. It's also FREE.

It was interesting and very cool to be standing on the roman fort, but there isnt much to see thats the only bad part. If your in caernarfon and have nothing to do you might as well go there for a visit.

Although there's no car park it's easy enough to park outside on the street. We decided to drive up for the castle even though it would have only been a 15 minute walk and given the gradient that was a good choice. The museum wasn't open and there was no signage to indicate opening times. Neither were there any information... More

The museum is still closed and whilst the site is well maintained and obviously harks back to imperial roman times it seems a little forgotten
