After all these years Caernarfon’s immense strength remains undimmed. A brute of a fortress. Caernarfon Castle’s pumped-up appearance is unashamedly muscle-bound and intimidating. Picking a fight with this massive structure would have been a daunting prospect. By throwing his weight around in stone, King Edward I created what is surely one of the most impressive of Wales’s castles. Worthy of World Heritage status no less.

Great place to visit. Parking near the castle. Short info film to start. Castle is on water edge and in town. Lots to explore, towers, passages etc. Activities for the children. No restaurant. Good value for money.

Historic semi ruined castle. Magnificent view of the castle on approach - it is what a castle should look like. Reasonably priced for entry. Much of the castle is in ruins but it is atmospheric and a number of the towers can be climbed, although...More

I hadn't been to the town or castle for many years and was delighted to find that it is still a great place to visit. The town of Caernarfon itself is lovely, and well worth a wander around. There is lots to see in the...More

This is one of the larger castles in Wales, and clearly famous as a result of Prince Charles investiture in the days when (as per the 'video' running at the castle) Caernarfon was spelt Caernarvon. There are plenty of seats but when it was raining,...More

This place is in dire need for the headsets you can listen too and activate at significant points as people just cluster around the boards of text and more text and kind of saps from the atmosphere as half the time you can't even get...More

Well preserved structures. One of the more interesting castles to visit in North Wales. Would need about 2 hours to fully explore and enjoy the castle.

Fascinating, so much to see with all the different exhibits. We didn’t climb to the top as I found the spiral stone steps made me feel unwell. But, seeing all the other people on the upper parapets, Im sure the view must have been stunning

As far as I’m aware, it’s only assistance dogs that are allowed on the castle, but best to phone and check.
