After all these years Caernarfon’s immense strength remains undimmed. A brute of a fortress. Caernarfon Castle’s pumped-up appearance is unashamedly muscle-bound and intimidating. Picking a fight with this massive structure would have been a daunting prospect. By throwing his weight around in stone, King Edward I created what is surely one of the most impressive of Wales’s castles. Worthy of World Heritage status no less.

Fabulous castle, well restored and a mine of information. Stayed for hours being educated in the museum - definitely go!

Personally my favorite Welsh castle. You can walk the walls and climb the towers which afford excellent views of Anglesey and Snowdonia. Staff are friendly and helpful. If you are a member of English Heritage you get in free!!!

I recalled the investiture of Prince Charles here, and find it hard to believe 4000 guests fit into this space. When Queen Elizabeth passes on and Charles becomes King, Like Prince William, as the new Prince of Wales, will be installed here as well. Worth...More

We loved this castle, and we saw many castles on our 4 1/2 months trip away. It was large, interesting, and right beside our boutique hotel. What was there not to like? Go and see it, it is a must!

We were unsure about visiting the Castle as it looked to be just a ruin, how wrong we were. This is a very interesting Castle with a video of its history to star with, then climbing the many steps to the towers and ramparts which...More

Caernafon castle by far the best Castle I've ever seen, or is it. Drove past Conwy on the way there. Say no more.

To get the best out of this castle one needs to be quite fit and agile. The museum was outstanding yet quite sobering and humbling. Ramparts, battlements, towers to climb, this castle has it all. Displays and videos keep the interest going. It also looks...More

Understandably for children of that age range, the experience will be a lot more limited, as visiting the castle is primarily for sightseeing and educational purposes. Having said that, the sightseeing alone can be a joyful... More
