After all these years Caernarfon’s immense strength remains undimmed. A brute of a fortress. Caernarfon Castle’s pumped-up appearance is unashamedly muscle-bound and intimidating. Picking a fight with this massive structure would have been a...more

We visited Caernarfon on a coach tour of Snowdonia. Given we had 4 hours in Caernarfon we had plenty of time to visit the castle and Royal Welch Fusiliers museum. Entry to the castle was good value at less than £10 but we were disappointed...More

We were there on a cold wintery day and it was fabulous. Winding corridors and stairs. Ups and downs and blind ends. Beautifully eerie and then a whole museum of military history that is warm and dry. With history old and new it is a...More
There is so much history in this castle - and can you believe it is 50 years since the Investiture of HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales. The exhibition in one of the towers was excellent and I don't think we did it justice...More
Lovely castle, well maintained.
Great thought was given as to how to engage the younger visitors. Our young ones enjoyed the treasure hunt style way of exploring the entire castle and grounds.
We enjoyed the video and education section for the adults too.
Why isn't this castle more talked about - it is huge, its fabulous, both kids and adults will enjoy it even when raining. Lots of high ramparts, lots of towers and you seem to be able to go everywhere. The military museum is incredibly interesting...More

Yes there is plenty of car parks near the castle, the main one being directly outside of it, think it's £5.00 for the full day. I checked with the parking attendant who confirmed you can leave the car park and return later in the same day on the same pass. It is also possible to go in and out of the castle once you've paid your entry fee ( for that day only) but it allows you to spend a few hours looking round then you can go into town for lunch and return back later in the day, having two children we found this useful.
