After all these years Caernarfon’s immense strength remains undimmed. A brute of a fortress. Caernarfon Castle’s pumped-up appearance is unashamedly muscle-bound and intimidating. Picking a fight with this massive structure would have been a daunting prospect. By throwing his weight around in stone, King Edward I created what is surely one of the most impressive of Wales’s castles. Worthy of World Heritage status no less.

Having just seen Conwy Castle, we thought it might be pretty much the same, but it turned out to be quite a bit different. From the super modern sort of drawbridge entrance to get to the entrance and the glass and metal balcony where Prince...More

We have visited a lot of castles during our trip to Wales and this was one of my favorites (together with caerphilly castle). We paid £27.50 for a family ticket and spent about 2 hours here. It is a great castle with a lot of...More

We got consession admission tickets being over 60. We spent well over 2.5 hours looking around the castle and the museum within the castle . To be honest we spent well over 1.5 hours in the museum it’s self. The history about The Welsh Fuselliers...More

I've never been in a castle really before Caernarfon and man, it did not disappoint. It was full of towers and tucked away rooms, most of which you could climb or access. There were exhibits here and there explaining more about the history or the...More

Caernarfon is a great day out, plenty of nice shops and places to eat, we spent a good afternoon at the castle. The castle is one of the most complete that I know of. Accessibility will be a bit tricky due to the amount of...More

It was free to get in on the Saturday we went which was great. We loved exploring all the passages and towers. I liked the exhibitions, particularly inside the head of the king , and the balcony which looks over the town

The castle and Caernarfon had a food festival on, the entrance was free which was great as it is normally £10 each. The views are stunning, to get to the top of some of the towers is hard as the steps ate small, steep and...More

A well spent 2/3 hours. Wear sensible shoes as there are LOTS of steps. The day we went was rainy and a tad misty so the views from the towers were not the best, but still worth the climb. The Royal Welch Fusiliers museum was...More

I had wanted to visit for many years and was not disappointed. This is the most impressive castle in Wales. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of seats around the castle so you can sit and look at the magnificent castle. The...More

Understandably for children of that age range, the experience will be a lot more limited, as visiting the castle is primarily for sightseeing and educational purposes. Having said that, the sightseeing alone can be a joyful... More
