Overview
More
After all these years Caernarfon’s immense strength remains undimmed. A brute of a fortress. Caernarfon Castle’s pumped-up appearance is unashamedly muscle-bound and intimidating. Picking a fight with this massive structure would have been a daunting prospect. By throwing his weight around in stone, King Edward I created what is surely one of the most impressive of Wales’s castles. Worthy of World Heritage status no less.

Visited the castle with visiting family who live abroad, the weather was fantastic which was a bonus, spent a good few hours walking around and seeing the exhibitions.

An amazing castle in such excellent state of preservation with so much to explore. It would be difficult for the not so fit as many steep stairs to climb to get the fantastic views from the towers. Plenty of signage to explain the layout of...More

A must do for us on a trip to Wales due to the kids favourite cartoon. Excellent castle, it's got lots of towers to climb to the top of and lots of walls to walk along. Obviously it all narrow staircases and twisty corridors, but...More

Without a doubt, this is my favourite UK castle. It looks like a proper castle with big imposing walls, right on the Menai Strait. You can park close by if you want. You can walk all the way round the castle and get some great...More

We got a family ticket which saved us money... the children had a quest to follow which they enjoyed. The welsh guards/ soldiers museum is good. We took a picnic and park at the water side £4 all day. The visit takes 2hrs tops but...More

Great castle. We visited when it was almost empty and it was very atmospheric. Access to nearly all areas i.e towers, walls etc. Very interesting.

Visited Easter Sunday. Was busy but not too busy that you couldn't get up and down the zillion steps to the turrets. Well worth a visit. The museum is informative and well laid out. Small shop attached to museum ran by Keith who was well...More

Wonderful 2 hrs - this castle is well worth a visit. You need to be fairly fit as there are many steps to climb but the views from every aspect are fabulous . Staff very helpful & knowledgeable .
