Walked from The Horseshoe Falls, (a great semi circle construction on the river Dee designed to divert a flow of water into the canal)..to the centre of Llangollen approximately 2 miles. It was a very relaxing and pretty walk with over hanging trees, small arched...More

The aquaduct at Pontcysyllte has been featured on TV programmes galore, but going there for real makes you realise that the television images simply don't do it justice. Amazing, don't miss it.

A young Thomas Telford designed the horseshoe falls which feeds the canal and was used to power the mills. A great wee walk with a lot of history along the way. Do not be afraid to take some wee bridges etc as they will not...More

The views of the aqueduct were beautiful!! Not for those with a fear of heights though as it is over 100ft in the air. The parts by the aqueduct were not steep and were a gentle walk.

This is a nice pleasant walk but I wasn't expecting how exposed you feel when going over the aqueduct. There are a lot of dog walkers to contend with but everyone had friendly smiles. Very easy access from Llangollen town centre.

Visited Llangollen quite a few times to walk the canal with our dog and toddler, and also done a self drive canal boat day with the family. Always a pleasantly busy route, beautiful scenery and a good excuse to enjoy a nice lunch afterwards :)
