This place is absolutely amazing! Loads to see, but totally different to your typical museum, this is open air and you can walk in and out of the buildings. The staff are really friendly, and there's no admission free. Few of the buildings were closed for renovation when I visited, looking forward to seeing whats new next time I go... More

Visiting between Christmas and New Year we dressed for cold weather, but the frost was thick everywhere and didn't melt much before the light began to fade and temperatures to drop, so we were glad of the open fires in many of the buildings. The main museum building is having an upgrade so is closed. This was a shame, as... More

A wonderful open air museum which offers an interactive experience of houses and buildings throughout history. You can explore a Tudor House, visit a 1950s prefab and even experience a 20th century fair. Definitely worth a visit and a great way for kids to get into history

We love coming here for a family day out. Free entry, you just pay a couple of quid for the car park. Our last trip was on bank holiday Monday so it was quite busy but parking attendants helped us park, and the grounds are big enough that it isn't ever over crowded. There's so much history here, and it's... More

This a nice place to visit, entry is free and there is a lot of history but also beautiful gardens and a lake so a varied enjoyable experience. Probably more enjoyable for children.

As I child I visited here frequently and there is always something more to see and learn. As an adult I have visited here once and still I continue to learn. Always a new attraction, and all exhibits provide good informaruon about the history of the building. All staff are highly informed and I would highly recommend engaging them in... More

I took my two youngest sons ages 7 and 9, thinking that they would find hard to remain amused. They loved it, the interaction of all the exhibits and a feeling of "exploring" my boys had such a great time. The grounds are stunning especially in the summer, a perfect place to take lots of photos. The castle is simply... More

Fabulous place to visit I was so impressed with the attention to detail on the whole site, to single out one building that had meticulously been reconstructed for praise is impossible there are more than you can shake a stick at. Everywhere we went there was so much to see and learn from. The grounds are kept immaculate which you... More
