I had passed this on the adjacent cycle route on several occasions and never bothered stopping as a fake castle did not appeal to me. However, on visiting I found it an enthralling place, the way the castle is built on medieval foundations and has been made into a spectacular home. The exhibitions are informative. I don't normally like audio... More

This castle is very different from most of the others in Wales and feels like you are stepping into a fairy tale - it is well worth a visit! Can be done in a day with another as part of the CADW Explorer Pass. It helps that it sits on the edge of one of the most beautiful forests I've... More

Castle Coch can be seen from the main road and was a place we always wanted to visit. Set in lovely wooded grounds, the Castle looks impressive and is even more interesting inside. Great rooms with an interesting free audio guide (included in the entry price). We were surprised at the quality of the work and decoration. The visit was... More

Castell Coch is local to me.. Everyone who visits from out of area must come here to sample the ornate and lavish detail of the Marquis of Bute's gothic fantasy. From Aesops fables portrayed on the walls and ceiling of the drawing room to the crystal balls on the beds in the tower, this is every little princesses dream and... More

This is such a perfect Fairytale castle, like something from Disney! Beautiful in every way, the castle has an undeniable elegance and grace that makes me just want to live there. The free audio guides are a must, otherwise you're only looking at the room decoration, as there is hardly any written information around, which I personally prefer. The furniture... More

I always take my visiting friends and family to castel coch. The grounds are well taken care of and it's such a great surprise rounding the corner and seeing a beautiful castle around the corner. Highly recommended

Just to the NW of Cardiff a castle on a hill with great views. It hides a secret and deserves a visit to discover it. Be prepared for some steep steps and enjoy the rewards for the climb. This building is well cared for and your visit will help to keep it so. Outside the castle is a neat small... More

The Castell Coch is not surprising by its size or by its very long history, but it is one of those castles that can give enyone a good memory and as well making it understand more about architecture and art. Some of the rooms are lovely and decorated with good taste (don't miss the Mrs.' room), but some of them... More

A lovely, quiet place in autumn and set in beautiful woodland. The free audio guide is informative and visitors are allowed to wander around at their own pace. Take a camera as the decorative rooms and views are stunning. There is free parking and the ticket prices are very reasonable. Lots of steps up and down the towers but with... More

Exciting to go round and they have little audio equipment so you can find out more about the rooms and castle generally. The castle has been used in several films and also was in Merlin
