Lovely riverside walks from Bute Park

Lots of lovely walks by the River Taff. We saw a heron, mute swans, red-breasted mergansers, mallards and a dipper. You can get a boat trip up to Cardiff Bay every half an hour at... read more

On foot or cycling the river provides a pleasant way of getting into the city from the northern suburbs, much nicer than the heavy traffic that a capital city inevitably attracts and no problem with parking.

Had fantastic weekend in Cardiff and walked along both banks of River, very pretty and well kept, lots of sitting areas and picnic spots especially through Bute Park. 10/10

Mad mad I tell you - even the fish are insane (oh no thats Paris!). Well what can you say about a river? There was a good program about this now beautifully clean river. Great canoeing from the Grade 5 Quakers Yard but a lot easier further south and a couple of shootable weirs - try Rador (looks big from... More

Excellent route through Castle grounds alongside river here- and you can stop at several pubs for lunch just off the way. Adjoins huge parks with cricket and football fields too-Cardiff's proudest public area.

The Taff trails follows he River, for a generous portion. The trail is used by bikers, runners and people strolling or walking. It's an amazingly cathartic venture, as there are little transit boats passing, crew teams, and even the lone row boat or little skiff. Swans mull about and nest along the tall grass on the banks, generating a transcendingly... More

From its confluence at Cefn-coed-y-cymmer, the river flows south, passing several towns. It picks up a few tributaries, such as the River Cynon, River Rhondda, Bargoed Taf and Nant Clydach. It flows through Pontypridd and through to Taff's Well, the site of Wales' only thermal spring. It flows underneath the M4 Motorway, before turning southeastward and flowing through the Cardiff... I'm sure the fact that it was a sunny morning helped but has a great walk alongside the river Taff, there is a massive park on one side and was great to see so many sports pitches. Nice view of the cricket ground on the other side. Did not see any activity on the river in terms of boats etc... More

the taff trail goes through areas like the castle grounds , bute park , llandaff weir and castell coch . All beautiful . But the river boat is not the only cruising you will find as these areas are notorious for gays cruising for sex. If you take kids there and they hear a noise in the bushes and go... More
