Just walking or driving down this street gives one the chills. So much history happened on these streets, that one has to go and take a tour to soak it in. Doesn't matter which side of the debate you are or neutral, this street is a must see. Many murals, and monuments, historic cafes on this street. If you are... More

All of the murals are very haunting, you can still feel the pain the people are feeling. Also scary seeing how each side hurt each other. All together very haunting. A must see

If you're into Belfast history this is a great place to stop off and see. Just over the road from the Crumlin jail it makes a great addition to that visit too. The murals are interesting and the peace wall, but I'd recommend a guide, other wise you're just looking at graffiti and not really getting the story!

YOu'll hear all about the troubles, and the murals but most people forget one of Ireland's great artists was from this next of the woods (William Conor). He is commemorated at Conor's Corner at the corner of Northumberland Street and the Shankill Road. There are also other murals celebrating boxers from the area (Hopewell Crescent) and the Great War, Belfast... More

After reading one of the articles. I felt I had to make comment on this one in particular. After visiting Northern Ireland for many years. Especially the shankill area of Belfast may I say I definitely agree 100%. Whether it be a food outlet or a bar shop or even the garage at the bottom. Never will you see a... More

Shankill Road figured prominently in Belfast's "Troubles". You will see Shankill Road if you are on the Black Cab Tour.

Busy road with lots of murals related to the different Belfast communities. Once a dangerous street with lots of troubles and tension. Now peaceful, but still showing focus on group and politics. Must see, these murals are real art!

Worth a visit if only to see the murals and sample a pint or 3. We visited the Rangers bar and found a band playing which we enjoyed listening to. All told it was a great weekend in Belfast.
