We enjoyed several visits to the Duke of York during our stay in Belfast. It has to be one of the city's best pubs, with great character to the décor and ambience. The selection of beers from all over Ireland is fantastic.

This pub is fantastic. Great beer, great atmosphere and millions of collectibles to view from beer mats to beer signs adorning its walls and ceiling. A great pub!

The bar looks very local but is actually very inviting. We went during the day so the experience may be different in evenings. The had great selection of Irish whiskeys. They also served free sandwiches and are very welcoming even if you don't drink. The...More

Great craic, great service and the finest Guinness in Belfast! The only bar we went to where I had to wait for the Guinness to settle! Superb!

Must be a true Irish pub. Every bit of the walls of the pub and there are a few, was filled with iconic symbols of Irish drinks and bottles. Very crowed and you get a drink and spill out into a "street?" to find a...More

Friendly staff, and quirky interior attracted us into the duke of York. Yeats poetry on the stairs was a lovely touch. If conversation dies down, the decor will absolutely keep you occupied and the old artefacts cover every wall and ceiling space.

We visited late on a Tuesday afternoon so the crowds were not an issue. We had a great laugh with the bar staff and then enjoyed a pint as we wandered around and took in the surroundings. Literally every inch of the walls and ceilings...More

When in Belfast I’d visited this pub on several occasions, but mainly in the afternoons. It’s a really picturesque pub and on this trip I wanted to show it off to my friends and we called at about 8.30 on a Saturday night. What a...More

Time your visit based on how you feel about crowds. The difference here cannot be understated. I had a nice quiet jar of Guinness on an early Thursday afternoon. I returned Friday night to a drunken, boisterous, mad-house and never got served. Instead I was...More

Duke of York is a classic kind of pub. Comfortable, service with a smile, lots of draught choices and bottled beers, too. Scores and scores of whisky choices with prices ranging from the very reasonable up to 140 pounds per drink. (Not bottle.) And music,...More

I'd be surprised if you have any trouble. You may find the odd bar that's a bit funny but you probably won't want to call in there if they are. The students are in town for freshers week at the moment and you won't hold a... More
