The Crumlin Road Gaol dates back to 1845 and closed it's doors as a working prison in 1996. After extensive renovations the gaol has re opened as a visitor attraction and conference centre. Today you can take a guided tour of the prison and hear about the history of the site from when women and children were held within it's walls through to the political segregation of republican and loyalist prisoners and learn about why the decision was taken to close the prison.During the tour of the gaol you will be taken by your tour guide to visit the underground tunnel that used to connect the gaol to the Crumlin Road Courthouse, you will get a chance to sit in the Governor's chair, view all the wings from the circle and of course pay a visit to the condemned mans cell before seeing the execution cell where the majority of the 17 men were hanged.

Also really liked that you were made at ease to enjoy yourself, take photos & ask questions! Brilliant wee trip! Full marks! Had a lovely lunch in their restaurant... More

this is an interesting place to go once. We have been 4 times for 4 different events, the actual tour was very interesting. The Halloween fun tour was short but fun. The Halloween tour was rubbish and we went to see jonny cash which was excellent

I would definitely recommend this. It was really interesting learning about this old prison and the tour guide Harry was very informative and knew his stuff. It was really good exploring the old cells, the tunnel that connects to the old court across the road and the yard.

Let me say first off I am not a fan of guided tours per se as they are sometimes used as a showcase for people thinking they are the ones "on show" but this tour was so informative and thorough and delivered with respect and humour by Harry. Would absolutely recommend.

This tour was 70 minutes of information and insight into the running of the gaol. It is hard to believe the structure housed prisoners until so recently. The condemned cell was particularly chilling to realise how many men had met their deaths there. I would recommend this tour .There is a gift shop and restaurant .Our guide seemed very well... More

We stopped by the Gaol as part of our open top bus tour. Our tour guide was very informative and gave excellent details about the Gaol and how it worked up until the late 1990s. It was an excellent tour and we would highly recommend a visit to the jail. Amazing to think that this prison was only decommissioned recently.

First time at Crumlin Road gaol to Flash Harry concert. Fantastic night, well worth £20 per ticket. Just sorry we did not do the tour of the gaol before hand. Room concert was in held around 200 people & had a bar opened. Car park available. Will definitely be back to see another concert, although Flash Harry was exceptional.
