The Downpatrick and County Down Railway runs through the drumlin countryside of County Down - St. Patrick's Country - over the River Quoile and under the graceful Down Cathedral. With a mix of steam and diesel trains, and vintage carriages, there's plenty for train fans of all ages - from wee kids to "big kids". Run by volunteers, society membership entitles you to free travel.

We visited one Saturday afternoon and we really enjoyed. Admission of £6 got you access to the little museum and a trip out on the steam train. It is run by volunteers and it had a real community feel. Really enjoyed.

Hi Stuart, regrettably the length of line is not up to us! All I can suggest is writing to the Chair of the local council and expressing your support for our planned line extension to try and get the land.
