We normally start our walk from just opposite the Harbour Inn where the Bogey Line ends. This line was where the granite was brought down from the quarries to the harbour for shipment. It is a steep climb and can be wet under foot. Having got to the top of the line the trail continues past a still operating quarry... More

This walk starts off at Newcastle harbour. It's a fairly straight and somewhat strenuous track to the top along he old gurney track. This means it's quite a straight walk. Once at the top you can choose to carry on over the stile and visit Thomas's Quarry for some breathtaking views of Newcastle. There's also a waterfall here which in... More

Actually, we went a longer trails than the Granite trail, but the parts we went were really nice. At the highest point you have a very nice view over all the Newcastle area including the ocean.

There are interesting artifacts along the way that help tell the story... More

A lovely lady at the tourist information building recommended this walk to us. It's a fairly steep uphill walk on steps that go straight up to the old granite quarries. However this is the hardest bit...it was good to get the worst bit out of the way first! We came back down via the winding pathways that lead to Donard... More

We were staying at the Seaview Appartments which is located close to the Harbour Inn the start of the Granite Tail is just a short distance from here. The start of the trail is just opposite the harbour initially there is a path the a... More
