It's hardly surprising that the city's tourist information always prominently features photos of the River Foyle, it does place Derry-Londonderry in a beautiful setting. The river or lough is also an important wetland habitat as a train ride between Bellarena and Derry shows.

Great River , wonderful harbour & the reason Derry was built here with all its fortifications to protect shipping & residents. It now divides the OLD Derry on northern side from new Derry on southern side.Has 2 great bridges giving access.

The Sainsbury's Supermarket in Derry is located on the banks of the River Foyle and there is pedestrian/cycle route along the river side. There are a number of sculptures representing a family emigrating from the city and surrounding areas in times past. A number of generations are represented with the older generation remaining behind. Well worth seeing. Also in the... More

Just enjoyed a wonderful week during the Maritime Festival here when the Round the World Clippeers entered the Foyle. The city council outdid themselves and welcomed at least 150,000 visitors. The beautiful quayside walk was bedecked with flowers and about 30 market stalls lined it. Every day it was thronged and the atmosphere was electric. on the final night -Saturday-... More

Large river which had a festival on it while we were there. All very nice and good to attract some tourists in to the town. Not sure how many of the locals participated.

The twelve tall mast yachts competing in the round the world clipper race, along with a supporting flotilla, make a very impressive and spectacular sight on the River Foyle during their visit to Londonderry. Many side shows and entertainments make for a great day out for all the family

We hiked for miles along the river Foyle. There are well maintained pathways extending for miles along both sides. The Foyle bridge is beautiful and accessible to pedestrians. We did a big loop and walked across both the the Peace Bridge and the Foyle Bridge.

A lovely place to walk alongside on a sunny evening. Felt very calm and relaxed after spending a few hours by the river watching the world go by
