A great insight into law and punishment in days gone by. Interactive handset describes at various points what happened with inmates of the jail in centuries of old. Friendly actors help make the scene. It takes you from the old jail and courthouse to the new jail. Very informative and if you're passing or visiting Inveraray it's a must see.

This is a great place to visit for the family. Gives you a great incite of how things were in the past. Also you can check to see if one of your ancestors was also an inmate .

The website makes it sound really quite exciting but having paid my £11, and gone through the exhibition of torture and damnation which was primarily information boards and a few instruments, I moved on to the court room. Using the audio guide it all became a bit tedious and a real live guide would have been much more interesting. The... More

My husband and I had been here a number of years ago, and wanted to take our kids (12 years). They found it interesting, and we easily spent an hour here (could spend longer). I do think that it is overpriced for the visit though (hence my rating), especially as nothing much has changed in the 19 years between our... More

I am not sure what I expected but was disappointed and felt it was a rip off as there wasn't a great deal to see, all of the cells were similar, it was ok but it definitely wasn't worth the entrance fee.

Thank Alan B
