While in Stirling, I sent an email to the chairperson of the society to see if they had any information about an ancestor who had taught school in the community. We had, unfortunately, missed the day that the centre was open. She contacted me right away and arranged to meet me the next day. When we met, she had all sorts of information on my ancestor and was a wealth of information about the community. She, and her co-chair were delightfully friendly and extremely helpful.

My husband and I were staying in Alloa and saw an advert for the heritage centre and we decided to pop along to see it. It was closed when we arrived but a lovely lady at the community centre (sorry didn’t catch her name) offered to call Chris Calder from the history group to see if she was available to show us round. To our amazement Chris arrived 5 mins later and gave us an in depth personal tour of the centre. Her knowledge of the subject matter was incredible, not to mention her memory for dates and events. She brought local history to life, with many fascinating stories. What an amount of historical treasure that has been gathered by this group of volunteers. There are posters, scale models, household appliances, clothes, uniforms, photos, records. The list goes on. Well worth a visit. Congratulations to all involved and a special thank you to Chris for taking the time to show us round and for sharing all the wonderful information with us.

Centre was to be closed while we're in Stirling so sent an email asking some family history type questions. We got a response and next morning met the amazing Christine at the centre. Not only did she help us with a wealth of important family history, she opened our eyes to what an amazing and beautiful area Tullibody and Clackmannanshire is, and how people have lived in the area over many centuries. The Centre has amazing resources including models, displays, masses of newspaper cuttings, family history and other resources and displays. It isn't massive, and isn't always open, but we had a wonderful time and learnt so much. Well worth a visit if you're round about the area.
