A lovely drive through the forest with a nice picnic area to stop and explore at the otter pool. The road is narrow and bumpy on rock clippings so one has to travel very slowly and admire the scenary and animals,birds...a suggested two pounds is...More

Hit the road early evening. Beautiful time of day . Non bitmac road makes you feel you've left civilisation . Not for you if you are precious about your motor vehicle but interesting drive with plenty of stopping points. Otter pool was totally deserted except...More

Although the scenery is amazing and utterly beautiful, the road needs to be sorted! Unbelievable pot holes which on numerous occasions led me to scrape the underside of my car and panic that something was going to fall off. Absolutely terrifying with small children in...More

A great place to getaway from the hustle. A secret little gem to sample as you get into Scotland. There are lots of places to pull over and look at the scenery. I was very surprised with this area as I thought the Highlands would...More

Located in the wonderful Galloway forest, the Raiders Road takes you through the little travelled, little disturbed, masterpiece of nature. It is beautiful and there's little more I can add to that. Go exploring - safely. You'll be amazed.

Spent a glorious afternoon at the otter pools yesterday. Armed with picnic and deckchairs we just sat and watched the fun as children enjoyed the last day of the school holidays. The sun sparkled on the little waterfalls as kids afloat all manner of inflatables...More

It's very easy to follow but not really a cycle, meaning it doesn't take you back to the beginning.

We want to try the forest drive but our car is a transit van. Will the road be wide enough for us or is it more suited to just cars etc? :-)

I recently travelled down the road and I would say it was more than suitable for a transit van. The road is a single track with passing points but is wide enough for a transit type van. The road is mainly gravel track but is... More
