Still used by the 'family', Drumlanrig is a wealth of history. Tour of 'house' is very informative, the Tea Shop serves lovely stuff. If you are lucky to about when the shops in the stables are open - even better. There is a great playground for the kids and there are several walks to enjoy.

We arrived here, only to find the castle closed and the incredible playground closed. We did a very nice and fairly easy 4K hike on the property. There is a cycle rental shop for the trails and place to rinse off cycles and muddy wellies when your done. The childrens playground/adventure area looked incredible!

Beautiful castle with fantastic grounds. Perfect for a family day out. Has some stunning walks. The inside of the castle is beautifully decorated and houses some lovely pieces and paintings. There is a fab play park for kids.

a beautiful place to visit for woodland walks, culture and an adventure playground. In the summer there is plenty going on and shops that sell local produce

There's lots to see and do here.Phenomenal grounds, adventure playground for children, suitable up to 10 years of age, bike rental, cafe in the castle kitchen, Land Rover tours (need to be booked), the castle to look round and the art collection. The pink sandstone building is impressive.

This had a lovely tour of the inside of the castle, not sure if it is still a part of the deal. Who would not want to spend a day in the gardens? This also has a fun adventure park, not for the very young although they would let them on the rides a lot have no safety harnesses ie... More

Great day out and looks fantastic for families. Tea room superb. Grounds are kept beautiful. Mild weather for this time of year helped make it all the more enjoyable.

I visit the castle every few years and I have had many castle tours over the years and every time I see things I have missed on previous visits so I never get bored with the tours. It was nice to see the toilets renovated and new stables had opened to other makers until I walked into one of them.... More

We didn't come for the castle (good job as it's shut in October) but for a bike ride. As we're sort of mixed ability (energetic couple in our 60s) Rik from the bike shed told us to do the blue and red trail. That meant I could keep swinging off and doing some tougher, more technical (red) sections and we... More
