I did NOT walk the entire trail. Rather, I walked from Dunbar Harbour along the coastline to John Muir Park - about 50 minutes. While I obviously cannot comment on the entire walk, from what I did experience I can say it was fantastic. The...More

Really enjoyed this trail! I walked the first four sections, starting in helensburgh. Day 2 was long and hilly, but doable. I used the maps available on the JMW website and they were good, but it would be worthwhile to also get the guidebook for...More

Great walk and amazing scenery, managed the whole route in ten days which we enjoyed. We used Steve at the JMW baggage transfer service, good price and great service.

Love this place you can take a long or short walk and enjoy stunning views. Great place to take the dog. I hate the thing that you must pay two pounds to park now. Even though the machines don't take the new pound coins. I...More

We have been visiting the Edinburgh/North Berwick area for a number of years and always try to incorporate some walking on the John Muir Way, even though today had gale force winds it was still nice to walk along the coast on an excellent pathway.

My wife and I have recently completed the East Lothian section of the John Muir Way,mee did in four sections over a few months. The great thing about the walk is that it's easy to do in sections using public transport. We broke the walk...More

Repeatedly we walked on John Muir way (not all in once but in pieces). We really like this coastal path as it is great in many places.

My wife and I came to Dunbar and found this beautiful walk quite by accident, and we were impressed (and felt it a wise decision not to spend another day in Edinburgh). We felt so relaxed walking by the sea, admiring the volcanic rock formations,...More

According to those with whom we spoke while walking the John Muir Way, May and September we're deemed the best. We began on April 28 and finished on May 9 and had great weather and no crowds.
