Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.

- Marianne S1 contributionFabulous magical experienceWhat an amazing experience. Visited for my daughter's birthday treat and it was just amazing. Beautiful friendly little dogs who are so loved and cared for. Everything is geared around their welfare and they are just so cute. 😍 I would totally recommend visiting and will hopefully return soon.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 September 2023
- Amanda N1 contributionLoved it!We had a wonderful time visiting the chihuahua cafe. The dogs were so cute and we loved getting to know all about their different characters. Really good coffee and delicious cake. The team looked after us so well, gave us lots of info about the dogs and even arranged a special pack howl demonstration. Superb! A fun activity for our whole group, from teenagers to pensioners and in between.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 18 September 2023
- Amelia J1 contributionCoffee, Cake and Cute ChihuahuasExcellent experience at the Chihuahua cafe! A relaxing and calm environment where the dogs are prioritised and free to roam as they please. Clearly very well looked after dogs. Lots of opportunities to stroke the chihuahuas and plenty of photos taken too. The coffee and cake was also delicious. 10/10 would definitely recommend.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 October 2023

It was a really calm and chilled vibe and I with my 15 year old and 11 year old thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Would highly recommend and if we come back to Edin we'll definitely be back.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 October 2023

- Conor M1 contributionExpectations met and exceededStaff were very welcoming and friendly. They give us an insight of each dog and made sure we knew the boundaries. They made sure everyone got involved with the dogs which and allowed us to feed the dogs, pet and for them to sit on our laps. Also the drinks and cakes were very tasty and aesthetically pleasing which was a bonus.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 November 2023
- Safari763636Northampton, United Kingdom12 contributionsOne of the best things to do in EdinburghI had an amazing time. Everyone was so friendly and knew what was best for their pups. All the dogs had such different personalities and were an absolute joy to be around. Just follow the rules (which any dog owner or lover should know anyway) and you'll have a brilliant time too.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 December 2023
- Emma K4 contributionsAMAZING 💕💕💕We travelled from Dublin for a two night stay in Edinburgh & the Chihuahua Cafe was by far THE highlight of our trip 💕 We opted for the tea & cake add on & the cakes were delish, chef's kiss 👌 The staff couldn't do enough for us, from pouring our tea to making us comfortable & ensuring we knew the do's & don'ts - we are dealing with little furbabies so it was of utmost importance they were treated with the respect & care they deserved... Now, onto the furbabies, omg each & every one of them were so beautiful & unique. Their little personalities shone through. I loved feeding them. I personally got lots of face kisses from Lady Bee & then Faery decided I was hers & she got comfy for a deep tissue massage, she was almost falling asleep. It's an amazing experience. All three staff members made it such a memorable experience. If in Edinburgh I highly recommend it. I'll be back for sure xxxVisited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 11 December 2023

Very poor experience with the Edinburgh Chihuahua Cafe this weekend. We arrived promptly at 12 on the dot to be told that we had missed our slot to enter the cafe. We called them at 3 minutes past 12 to ask about whether we could be allowed in, however we were refused entry. Our fee will not be refunded and I feel very let down. We had commuted quite far into Edinburgh to attend the cafe for a birthday and despite being on time, we were not allowed in. Complete waste of money and time and very poor service.

Having never been to a cat cafe nevermind a chihuahua cafe I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but this was a great experience and we felt completely relaxed the entire time. The dogs themselves are adorable and looked after extremely well by the staff and you can tell they care so much about the dogs and enjoy what they do. The whole visit was very well organised and the coffee and cake was lovely as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves dogs

I've been to a cat café before but a dog café was a first! Me and my boyfriend went here on a trip to Edinburgh and were very impressed. They give you some guidelines on how to behave within the café which I'm sure a lot of visitors need! They sit you down within the café and set you up with a blanket which the dogs recognise as safe to sit on. The dogs then come out and can pick where to sit and who to interact with. The staff do relocate the dogs occasionally if a group of people are getting all the love! However, the dogs were fine with this.
There was one dog (the youngest and newest to the group) who was quite unsettled, and anxious, but they allowed her to do her own thing and didn't push her to interact with people. The staff seemed really clued up on the dogs and their behaviour which was nice to see.
As someone who works in animal rescue with dogs and very clued up on dog behaviour, the dogs all seemed very happy and used to the routine they have. I was impressed with how well it was all run :)
Gorgeous happy little dogs and I absolutely loved them all!

This was a fun, unique experience that I enjoyed but I wouldn’t go again. £10 is a lot of money for less than an hour to spend here and on top of that you have to pay for overpriced drinks and cake.
The dogs are lovely and it was great to have a chance to cuddle them, however the staff are very overprotective to the point of overbearing and patronising. I felt a bit like a school child having to ask to go to the toilet etc. It made me a bit uncomfortable as I felt we were going to get in trouble if we did anything wrong.
It was an interesting experience and I’m glad I went, however I think the staff could be a bit more welcoming and the experience made cheaper.

We were here on Saturday and had a wonderful time. We were greeted by Findlay at the front door and given a laminated card with some info on what to expect when we went inside. Lots of comfy places to choose from once we were inside and the dogs were absolutely adorable in their little halloween costumes. We got to feed the dogs little biscuits which made them sleepy - it was so cute watching them all curl up and nod off after their food.
Overall it was a lovely experience. We would have stayed longer if we could have. We were very-well taken care of and I'd like to specifically thank Findlay for his hospitality and for checking in on us and sharing little bits of trivia about each of the dogs. It made the whole experience even more special.

I love the Edinburgh Chihuahua Cafe. The chihuahuas are adorable with great personalities. I first visited the cafe as I was scared of dogs, however after a few visits, I can say they have helped me overcome my fear. The chihuahuas have lovely temperaments and are very sweet. The set up is great and very well organised. Loved every visit here.

On arrival, we left our bags in a cupboard so we didn't get any hairs on our belongings which is good for those who mind about that sort of thing. We were each given a different blanket to put on our legs to also protect our clothes. When the dogs came in, the dogs chose their places and they pretty much slept the whole time on peoples laps and didn't move around a lot. I would have liked to interact with a few of the other dogs too but they stuck in the same places the whole time. When the session was over, the dogs automatically just jumped and ran into another room which was actually quite freaky how trained they were. I had the most delicious biscoff latte - I would go again just to drink this! The paw shaped ice cubes were a really nice touch too.

I never like leaving a negative review but I felt compelled to write this in the hope the owner may change her ways.
I have genuinely never experienced being treated in such a rude and patronising way in my whole adult life, especially not when I have paid good money to be there.
If I’m honest there wasn’t a great atmosphere from the start of our experience. We had the ‘rules’ explained to us over and over again (this continued throughout the whole session!) and whilst I understand the need for these rules the owner seemed to be on some kind of power trip delivering them. Genuinely, she was still giving her ‘sermon’ two minutes before we left!
It made the whole experience really uncomfortable. You literally couldn’t even look sideways and she would be straight over to you, telling you that your legs were open a centimetre too much, or the blanket wasn’t ruffled up enough!!!!!!!
Only for the fact that I didn’t want to put a dampener on our day, I refrained from saying anything whilst we were there.
Honestly if I had met this woman in another scenario and she had behaved in this manner I’d have put her straight in her place. Her ego is bigger than the cafe itself!!!!!!!!
The way she treats her customers is ridiculous, she like the canine equivalent of Miss Trunchball!!!
I do get that the dogs must be looked after but I witnessed someone being told off for literally nothing. I was actually privy to her reprimanding someone for something they hadn’t even done, she literally imagined it!
This lady needs to understand that she has what I would call an unfortunate manner. She needs to acknowledge that her customers who are paying her for a service should be treated with respect. Without those said customers she wouldn’t have a business.
It’s such a shame that our experience was ruined because the dogs were very cute.
Maybe the dogs could demonstrate to the owner how she should behave!

This is a phenomenal little experience, great dogs and allergy options are surprisingly broad and delicious. Came with two friends who are gluten/dairy intolerant and there was no issue at all. You are clearly informed about the dogs as well so there's no risk of upsetting them, they are clearly incredibly comfortable and utterly adorable. At one point I was harbouring either 5 or 6 dogs on my lap in a state I can only call nirvana. Definitely recommend for dog lovers of all kinds

The Chihuahua Cafe is a lovely concept & the dogs are all lovely, clearly well cared for. The tea & brownie was great. Served in a teapot & cute china cup & saucer.
But I found 1 staff member to be quite rude, patronising & made me feel uncomfortable. The place has rules which you have to abide by which is understandable. Each guest is asked sit on a sofa upright, a blanket is put on your lap for the dogs. I was there with my 6 year old daughter who loves animals & we have 2 dogs ourselves. I felt 1 staff member was acting over protective towards the dogs & patronising guests telling them how to pet/feed treats. I went to pet a dog that jumped up on my lap as I would pet any other dog. I was told not to put my arm over her as it made her feel scared & enclosed. My daughter dropped a treat on the blanket. They give each group a cup of treats. The dog tried to retrieve it & she was accused of teasing the dog?!. I was then told to hurry up with the treats as I was holding up the session?! A man stood up to get his phone & was practically shouted at by a staff member. He was told he didn't follow the rules & needed to ask permission to get up, how the dogs are little creatures & easily scared?!
It reminded me of being back at school with a strict teacher barking orders. Too many do's & don'ts which meant it was not a relaxing atmosphere.
The dogs are absolutely brilliant but I think they'd be better being house pets than in a petting environment with an over protective owner.
I'm glad we experienced it but don't think I'd return again.
I fully understand any establishment with live animals needs rules in place for guests & animals but personally I felt the staff were going over the score to the point you were scared to breathe or move in case that upset the dog's.

Hi gizmo75luca
We are glad to hear you liked our concept but very sorry your experience was spoiled for you.
We do have rules in place to keep the dogs happy but these rules should never feel overbearing and this is not how we train staff.
I have identified the session you attended and your feedback has been helpful in highlighting behaviours and better ways of working going forward for the individual you have mentioned.
Thank you for your valuable insights in to our customer journey and once again apologies that your experience was spoilt. I hope the dogs were still fun to meet!
