Meadows Parc

Nice for a picnic on a sunny day. Has a children play ground area, close to the royal mile and the main attractions. Enjoyed the morning jogging.

The Meadows has always got something going on while Uni is on. Plenty of sport on the go, people chilling out, walking dogs and a good large spot for running.

Flanked by the castle in the distance on one side and the shopping district on the other, this is a wonderful green space. Come here for a stroll or to have a picnic when the weather's nice. It comes alive in the spring when it bursts into colour. Absolutely lovely.

We found this park by chance. we were driving by when we dicided to have a leg stretch. What a nice little, flat park to walk around. Enjoy, we did

First time at the Festival for me and got off the bus at the Kings Theatre and walked through "The Meadows" to get to Clerk Street. This is student territory as near the Edinburgh University but anyone can visit and find their own space and chill. The place was alive at the festiva time but is always busy with joggers,... More

The meadows is a park I frequent with my dog. Its a great place for us to run and walk. During the summer it's crowded and during the festival (August) is can be filthy with trash but the other 11 months of the year it's worth wonderful. Bring your golf clubs and walk across the street to a small golf... More

It's nice in the springtime when the blossom is out but otherwise just a large park with not a lot going for it. Seems to attract weird types whenever the sun comes out...

Great green space in the city centre. Some can play golf, walk dogs, chat, get from A to B, or eat a sandwich. Proper old fashioned town park.

A park in the middle of Edinburgh, busy when the sun is out. Good for a wee stroll, jogging, a dog walk or just relaxing on the grass.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
