The Edinburgh Vaults, one of the city’s most fascinating sights, can only be accessed on a tour. This one focuses exclusively on the vaults, an underground warren below South Bridge in Edinburgh’s Old Town. Step inside with a local guide who’ll reveal tales of hardship and struggle in 18th-century Edinburgh, grisly stories from the city’s dark past, and lead you to a hidden witchcraft temple.

We had a fantastic time on this tour. Stewart was brilliant, very engaging, interesting and looked after everyone. The value for money was amazing as was the stops on the way to the vaults - we learned so much about Edinburgh as well as seeing the vaults. I have one small criticism which is, when booking it says suitable for ages 4-99. I don't believe this to be the case with the large step into the vault and some of the wet flooring. I was fortunate my mid-70 year old parents managed it but I think this should be more clearly advertised to avoid any issues.

Very interesting and enjoyable tour. Our tour guide, Anna, was very knowledgeable and the pace was about right. Some of what we learnt was very gruesome, but that’s history! Would recommend this tour.
