Edinburgh Zoo is set in 82 acres of sloping parkland and is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre. It is home to over 1,000 rare and endangered animals, including chimpanzees, sun bears, Indian Rhinos, the UK's only koalas and the first Giant Pandas in the UK for 17 years. You can experience a busy programme of educational events and activities from keeper talks to hands-on animal encounters. There is also a wide-range of eating experiences, several play areas and a fantastic gift shop.Viewing for the Giant Pandas is free but ticketed.(Included with entry fee) To avoid disappointment we are advising all visitors to pre-book their tickets through our website to guarantee viewing. Panda viewing tickets must be booked at the same time as you buy your entry ticket.

It has always been our plan to see the panda but from the reviews we knew that it was going to be a hit or miss. But we were very lucky that day Yang Guang (male panda) decided to stay out and just walked in circles. My only criticism is that, we were looking at a glass window but it... More

This is a superbly maintained and run zoo. The panda, chimpanzee and monkey exhibits are excellent. The zoo keepers are very knowledgeable and helpful with questions.

Great family day out, plenty to do and see! Very reasonable price too for what you get, definitely one of the best zoo's in the UK along with Chester Zoo and South Lakes Sarfari Park!

Was fab to see Pandas, when this may be the only time in our lifetimes to do so. This was the highlight of the visit. I was saddened at the feel of the zoo, which felt a bit unloved in some places with signage having fallen away and not replaced, it felt like it needed a good spruce up and... More

Thank you for your comments. The UK's only Giant Pandas are certainly a highlight to any visit and I'm very glad that you got to see them. Their indoor and outdoor viewing areas provide a great way to see the Pandas up close. The Zoo is involved in a continuous program of improvements and regeneration, however this is only possible... Firstly there is lot of walking around which me and my partner didn't mind, but some people might. Prices are reasonable, and the the tiger area is grrrreat! but apart from that I felt like an excited child when I was there it was great fun! Go for it you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us your feedback. Our site is over 82 acres of sloping parkland so there is a large area to cover but I'm very glad that enjoyed walking around the site. Our brand new Tiger Tracks area opened in September this year and is over three times the size of our previous Sumatran tiger... More

When we went it was very quiet as it was a weekday. Lots of interesting animals. Unfortunately no penguin parade as they did not feel like coming out that day. If you so visit, be prepared for a lot of walking up some steep hill. Recommend arriving early to get everything in before the penguin parade (should it happen) in... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Our weekdays are quieter at this time of year and we do recommend visiting on these days if you like more freedom to see the animals at your own leisure. The Penguin Parade is completely voluntary on the part of the penguins and this does mean on rare occasions... More

We went on one of the coldest days even the penguins weren't happy! It was good and if it was warmer more animals would be out, but we still got to see them because you can see where they sleep to. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of food facilities open. We looked for somewhere to eat about... More

Thank you very much for your feedback. We do experience some cold Scottish winter days here but I'm glad you got to make use of the indoor viewing areas to see our animals. I will pass on your feedback to our catering team, our on site Grasslands Restaurant serves food until 15:30 and hot drinks until 16:00 but I'm sorry... More

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately we do encounter some cold temperatures being in a rather exposed location however where possible we do have indoor viewing areas so that you can see the animals in a warmer environment. The views from the top of Corstorphine Hill are certainly worth the climb even on a cold day and we do have... More
