The Museum represents the history of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys). Housed inside the 1790's constructed New Barracks within Edinburgh Castle, the museum tells the story of the history and traditions of the SCOTS DG including its three antecedent regiments dating back over 300 years. The antecedent regiments of the SCOTS DG are the 3rd Dragoon Guards (Prince of Wales's Own), the 6th Dragoon Guards (The Carabiniers), the 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards), The Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons), and the 25th Dragoons.

This is very much worth a walk through when in Edinburgh Castle. The history of the Dragoons are clearly spelled out and any military history buff should check it out.

The museum is located within the Edinburgh castle grounds which can be visited as part of the castle tour. It is well worth visiting if you are interested in all things military. For those not so interested it is still worth spending some time looking...More

This museum is located inside Edinburgh Castle. If you are in the castle then it is worth a look. It is especially interesting for those interested in Military History, like my husband.

Well, it's probably not a bad museum, but next day I couldn't remember much. Unless you know about those Guards and find them interesting, you probably are not going to remember much either.

There are quite a few military museums within Edinburgh Castle. I recommend walking through them all, though don't spend too much time reading the information boards or else you won't have time to explore the rest of the castle. The museum is well laid out.

Not a bad museum, but there is too much information if you want to be quick. It's included in the castle visit, but is not the most important visit.

Contained within the walls of Edinburgh Castle this museum traces the history of Scotland's only Cavalry Regiment. A very easy to follow display of history, uniforms, weaponry, medals and artefacts. Displays to suit all ages. Well worth an hour or two of anyone's time.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
