I have visited many churches in Europe but what makes the Canongate Kirk stand out is it's simplicity. The clear glass windows flood the church with light and I found the blue paint used on the pews and pulpit unusual but attractive not the austerity...More

Canongate Kirk is a pretty church just off the Royal Mile, reflecting quaint Dutch architecture with gable ends. It is easier to visit the churchyard around the Kirk, as the church is often closed to the public. A walk around the churchyard takes you back...More

It has a gorgeous facade with an interesting stag's head and antlers at the apex. Above the pediment a plaque informs that the church was built with a large donation in the mid 1600s from a local businessman. Inside is attractive. The predominantly white walls...More

This church is a real gem. It is the armed services church and where the Queen attends. It has lovely volunteers and no charges for photography. It is also where Adam Smith is buried.

Nice church worth a visit to the church and graveyard. Plenty of history. Able to see lots of photos and where the Royal family sit when they come to the church. Zara Phillips got married here.

We stopped here for a while on our way from the Hollyroodhouse Palace to the Castle of Edinburgh. Worth visiting and taking some photos.

Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street
is only half one, since buildings only line one side.
But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views
are from Princes Street as a result. From here you
look onto expansive and decorative public gardens
beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s
Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old
town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look
