A short 20-25 min ride on the bus from the city to a lovely side side stroll. It's very busy, lots of dog walkers and on the weekend children and cyclists. It's a positive contrast to the city centre.

Just on the out edge of Edinburgh by the Firth of Forth lovely views. You can get there by local bus or by car from the centre of Edinburgh. In past years before holidays abroad was holiday resort. Worth while place to go

Lovely Beach and Promenade. Great to walk along on a sunny day. Stop fpr Refreshments at The Beach House Cafe. There is a Free Car Park and Free Street Parking But can be difficult to find a space at Busy times of year.

you get the number 26 bus takes you right to portobello from princess Street you can get a day saver on the bus for travel on Lothian buses and trams it costs about £4 or a single journey is about 1.60

Sorry for the delay of my answer. Well,if it's a sunny day snd you want to enjoy the beach you can stay all day. If you just want to visit half day it's enough
